MELAKA: Melaka akan menjalankan projek penambakan laut dan pembangunan pelabuhan berkonsepkan hijau bernilai RM12.5 bilion di muara Sungai Linggi, Alor Gajah.

Ketua Menteri, Datuk Seri Idris Haron berkata, projek di kawasan seluas 250 hektar itu akan dibangunkan oleh syarikat Linggi Base Sdn Bhd dan dijangka siap dalam tempoh 10 tahun.

"Cadangan projek ini adalah menambak laut di kawasan perairan Kuala Linggi dan pembangunan secara berfasa berbentuk sebuah pulau yang akan menyediakan perkhidmatan minyak dan gas serta perkhidmatan perkapalan.

"Ia adalah di bawah Pelan Induk Pembangunan Pelabuhan Negeri Melaka yang membabitkan kawasan persisiran pantai Selat Melaka sepanjang 73 kilometer," katanya kepada pemberita di sini, hari ini.

Terdahulu, beliau menandatangani perjanjian pelaksanaan projek itu dengan Pengarah Urusan Linggi Base Sdn Bhd, Datuk Noormustafa Kamal Yahya di Ayer Keroh di sini.

Idris berkata, pelabuhan itu dijangka meningkat dan merancakkan aktiviti ekonomi dalam pelbagai sektor, terutama maritim, perkhidmatan perkapalan serta perkhidmatan minyak dan gas.

Menurutnya, ia juga akan menjadi destinasi perkhidmatan perkapalan dari seluruh dunia.

Katanya, projek itu akan mengikut peraturan yang ditetapkan kerajaan negeri dan perlu dilaksanakan dalam tempoh 30 bulan.

Idris berkata, nelayan di sekitar Kuala Linggi akan diberikan perhatian bagi memastikan aktiviti mereka berjalan lancar.

"Pelabuhan ini diharap memberi impak positif kepada nelayan dan menyediakan peluang pekerjaan yang luas kepada anak tempatan," katanya. - BERNAMA
