From peak RM5.70 to current RM4.80. Next month we will know if US market is in technical recession the moment Fed announce the GDP data. By the time, we will see waterfall everywhere....run lor....keep cash for the next upcoming crash which is just around the corner.

The US stock market is like a hyper casino. Just can't imagine big capitalized stocks could trade at PEs of several hundred. Tesla used to trade at a PE of over 800. Even today, Tesla and Amazon are still trading at PEs of around 100. How nice if CIMB and Maybank can command a PE of 100. The Dow is still more than 4 times higher than its 2009 lows, the Nasdaq is probably 10 times higher. The KLCI is only about 80% higher.

Forget about the US banks which could be doing dishonest things again like what they did in 2008 which triggered the world financial crisis.

Plenty of bad news is already in the price. US i think will surprise us and it will find a way or reason to have equity rally. Not least US has the biggest retail investors in the world and can print money nilly willy. The wall of investible money from retail investors, pension and Life insurance funds has to have a home, so when there is a major correction, a rally is not too far away! Malaysian market which has has been hit hard over a longer period that US is due for a strong comeback. Unfortunately, the political instability is one of the main reasons. That said I see CIMB is undervalued even now!

Lot of people in this forum dont understand how US works! They cause a correction others follow, they are first to exit and and first to enter. That is why US retail investors are the most wealthy in the world, as the effectively have inside information, as rests follow like lambs to slaughter. Case in point, Ali Baba US bankers wrote negative thigs abut Al Baba, the price collapsed from 400 + to 70 recently. Then suddenly JP Morgan who had previously said Ali Baba was uninvestible and high risk sent a note to confirm it is a strong buy! Price recovered nicely ....will continue to do. Many folks made 200% plus in a short time mostly in US. Lesson to to be learnt! Don't follow US blindly on negative news!

Q2 GDP data will be out on 28th this month. If negative growth again, that's mean we are 2nd consecutive negative growth and in other words we called technical recession

KUALA LUMPUR (July 21): CIMB Group Holdings Bhd's 94.83%-owned subsidiary CIMB Thai Bank PCL's net profit for the cumulative six months ended June 30, 2022 (6MFY22) jumped 122% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 2.12 billion baht from 1.16 billion baht.

The improvement was mainly attributed to better cost control with a 7.4% decrease in operating expenses and a 63.7% decrease in expected credit losses, according to a statement to the local bourse on Thursday (July 21).

I think Malaysian banks are insanely over-priced. According to Google, the P/E of CIMB is around 16. In comparison the Singapore bank OCBC, is at 11 and UOB is 12. Similarly with the American banks BOA is 10 and JPM is 9. I also worry that a large proportion of the security for loans is embodied in unoccupied real estate. If these empty flats hit the market all at once, for sure they will turn out to be worthless.
