https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/maybank-2q-net-profit-down-54-despite-higher-net-interest-income-declares-28-sen-dividend
he bank declared a first interim dividend of 28 sen per share, to be paid no later than in three months. It is to be accompanied by an applicable dividend reinvestment plan — whereby seven sen can be elected to be reinvested in new shares.

The banking giant's net interest income grew 16.5% to RM3.52 billion in 2QFY22 from RM3.01 billion a year ago. This helped lift its net operating income to RM6.83 billion from RM6.17 billion.

Notably, Maybank's other operating income shrank substantially to RM366.9 million in the quarter under review from RM1.15 billion a year ago as a result of unrealised mark-to-market loss of RM781 million. It was a mark-to-market gain of RM990.9 million a year ago.

Can expect this year's dividend to at least match last year's, from historical data, 2nd interim dividend had never been lower than 1st interim.

58 sen versus current price of 8.84 equal to a yield of 6.56%......very attractive for long term hold.

This tiger has been very efficient lately, can expect the dividend to be in around mid October.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2022-08-25 17:47 | Report Abuse

Instead of keeping your money in banks (and you risk losing it through scams), why not invest in Maybank? So simple and yet so safe!

Bank only give you about 3% and "capital guaranteed" meaning no capital appreciation....haha

This tiger gives more than 6.5% plus chances of capital appreciation :)

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 25): Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank)’s nearly 60% increase in allowances for impairment losses on loans in the second quarter could just be a one-off event, said its newly appointed group president and chief executive officer Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli.

Khairussaleh explained that the spike in loan loss provision is a pre-emptive measure in anticipation of weaker external environment outlook in the second half of the year.

“This is a pre-emptive provision, and it is supposed to be one-off, particularly affecting segments of oil and gas as well as hospitality,” said Khairussaleh in his first media briefing on quarterly results since his return to Maybank in May.

Anything below 9 is a great bargain for long term.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2022-08-26 17:06 | Report Abuse

Maybank detractors who regularly post comments saying that it would soon drop to RM5.80 must be very disappointed. I hope they stop wasting their time.

Posted by valueiseverything > 2022-08-29 09:37 | Report Abuse

They tot its a pump and dump stocks lolz. You don't wait for a cheap price when it comes to banking stocks. You buy and hope for stable dividends every year

Despite Wall Street's sharp falls last Friday, many KLCI component counters, especially the GLCs have held up well. A number even register decent gains. This could be a sign that GE15 is imminent.

RHB dividend should also be quite high if the 2nd interim can be maintained at last year level....

But cannot compare......cos RHB is considered smaller bank (smaller cap)

Posted by Thaumoctopus > 2022-08-29 19:56 | Report Abuse

@valueiseverything yes, get them at cheap price and keep it for the dividend. Can even reduce the risk further by diversifying into other dividend stocks
