Closed unchanged.. same strategy, accumulate actively first, then in bidding time, stay sideline, waiting to collect at lower price. Expect same strategy going forward, unless market maker emerge to force share price close higher.

YTLP is the only bluechip stock listed in Malaysia with 96% earning all derive from oversea business. YTLP will benefit the most from depreciation of RM against UK pound and Sing dollar.

1 UK pound = 5.46 RM
1 Sing = 2.60 RM

Remark: UK Wesses Water 53% + Singapore Power Seraya 43%; Msia IPP earning mostly offset by loss in Yes broadband))

Strangely with such strong background, only 1 out of 7 IB recommends a buy (TP RM2.55). The
other six call for hold with TP RM1.70-1.98

is there an announcement on the power project?

hng33

The reason is simple. Most of the analyst downgrade YTLP mainly due to upcoming expire IPP in next year Sept + no quarterly dividend + fear of continuous loss in Yes broadband

These analyst refused to recognized the value that YTLP have initiate share buyback, accumulating so far 12.5% in total (3.5% cancelled + current ongoing 8.99%) which is much more better than cash dividend.

With completion of 1 BestariNet at the end of last year, Yes broadband should be able to generate at least RM 300m/year management fee for next 5year (renewal for 5 + 5 year)just from 1BestariNet alone these year onwards + exiting and growing new customer. By just breakeven its Yes broadband business, it have already almost fully offset the contribution from local IPP when it expire i Sept nest year (Q1: local IPP profit RM 60m vs. Yes broadband loss RM 50m). Therefore the impact on YTLP earning is minimal even if its IPP expire in next year Sept.

Many research also didn't highlight the potential earning from YTLP Enefit Jordan oil shale power plant + oil shale production, which is schedule to build these year, and start contribute in 2017-2018.

At first i thought YTLP free flat have substantial reduce after accumulate 3.5 cancelled + 8.99%, but now EPF have just resume back to dispose YTLP again....YTLP sbb should have more chance to accumulate more share from epf now. Since EPF have pare down its stake from last year 9.11 to current 6.58%, sbb must cancelled its treasury stock once its reach 10% to fully absorb back epf remaining stake if its decide to sold out these 6.58%

My view ytlpowr (the lowest bidder) is not favoured by authority to win the power plant project. 1M Bhd which is seeking a listing on Bursa in 2014 is hoping and highly dependent on the project to ensure the success of its listing. Once more Malaysia Boleh

1MDB tipped to win Track 3B
By Francis Fernandes
Published: 2014/01/21

KUALA LUMPUR: 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is expected to emerge as the surprise winner to build a 2,000-megawatt greenfield coal-fired plant, better known as Track 3B, in Peninsular Malaysia, sources said.

They said the Energy Commission (EC) is expected to make an announcement soon on the winner of the project, which will cost just under RM12 billion.

Under the plan, the greenfield power plant will be commissioned in stages through October 2018 and April 2019.

Up until last week, YTL Power International Bhd was seen as the favourite to secure the deal.

AmResearch Sdn Bhd, in a report early this month, noted that based on the evaluation report submitted to the EC last month, YTL was the preferred bidder, given that its notional adjusted tariff of 25.2 sen/kilowatt hour (kWh) was the lowest bid.

YTL had proposed for the plant to be built in Tanjung Tohor, Johor, together with SIPP Power Sdn Bhd.

Business Times was told that power from the greenfield plant is mostly to be used in the Klang Valley.

As such, even though on paper YTL has the lowest bid, a plant in the southern most part of Peninsular Malaysia may have to burn additional coal to fire up the Klang Valley.

In a report last year, RHB Reseach had pointed out that apart from cost, other considerations will include the location of the power plant.

The firm also said that at 25 to 28 sen per kWh, the internal rate of return for Track 3B is between eight per cent and 11 per cent.

A victory for 1MDB will be timely as it seeks to sell shares to help ease debts, perched at RM31 billion, Bloomberg estimated.

If YTLP indeed failed to secure project 3b, there is no harm at all, as shareholder will not wan to wait for another round of huge capex spending till 2018 to build 2000MW again. Shareholder benefit already penalize by YTLP in 2010 until now to develop Yes broadband by cutting down quarterly dividend......, which is only these year onward, Yes broadband is expect to breakeven and turnaround into profit after completion of 1BestariNet. Its reward time now.
