project 3B is meant for 1MDB, other bidders just for show for fairness and so call open tender. if happen 1MDB is the lowest bidder, then everything go smooth without hassle, now with ytlp offers lowest, of course must come out some reason to unreason the deal.

1MDB already is debt laden, even have difficult to issue bond, need high coupon rate to attract both local and foreign bond buyer and paid extraordinary fees to Goldman Sach. Now, need urgently to raise fresh capital from IPO. For its upcoming 3B, if secure, need another round of capital, these time its intend to raise fund from oversea denominated bond, namely US dollar and Yen, render itself to expose to forex fluctuation.

Fat cat... they are smarter than any investment bank... they use our money to buy other assets and get the loan from loan sharks and the people have to pay the loan back... and where's the money gone? Haha

There is called, create something out of nothing. Or from the sky, just borrow as much as much the bank allowed, and buy whatever can generate cash, so long as can cover the interest. it's ok.

For whatever reason, the debt can't be serve, ours boleh gov will step in ... dont worry

Some may argue YTLP in actual also debt laden...by pointing out its borrowing is more than its cash hoard, RM 23b debt vs RM 9.6b cash. But, in reality, YTLP borrowing is tag with its long term concession regulated asset, with cash flow generated from concession not only meet interest expense and schedule repayment, but also able to net earning income.

Therefore, YTLP cash hoard of RM 9.6b can be anytime use to acquire new asset without need to worry its borrowing level as it is self serve by its concession assets.

85% of YTLP profit from oversea business, RM depreciated 8-10% against USD, Pound and AUS.....the company profit will increase 8-10% even if the profit from oversea business maintained....:P

It should be almost 100% YTLP profit from oversea as local IPP earning is offset by loss in broadband

Posted by Lam Kok Hoong > 2014-02-11 14:56 | Report Abuse

hng33
I thought by mid-2014 broadband will record break even, then the IPP profit can be stand alone....wow....extra 15% profit from IPP, 8% from foreign exchange...23% buta profit....

Posted by Fat Cat Tim Buddy > 2014-02-11 14:57 | Report Abuse

we use ' debt to equity ' to measure a company financial strength , not ' debt to real hard cash ' ....

anyway, real hard cash is good tool for quick acquisition since banks will not always lend money to you , and even they lend to you, it take time....

kikiki.. but 9.6b cash keep for so long? i think uncle yeoh wait for the market crash until his neck longer than giraffe already...

you cant always make your fortune on top of other people misery... try to build 1 instead.. kiki..ki...

If company like YTLP have RM 9.6b cash deposit, but still wanna to borrow for new assets acquisition, it will be rush for all bank to secure loan business for YTLP, as it show minimum risk for bank to loan to these kind of company and therefore competitive among bank render lowest possible interest on loan for YTLP

Francis Yeoh already wisely spend as much as RM16b for share buyback already, (assuming previous cancel treasury stock 250m x avg. RM 1.55 = RM 388m + current treasury 681m x average sbb RM 1.75 = RM 1.2b, totaling amount spent: RM 1.59b)

If Francis Yeoh use RM 1.6b to payout as dividend instead of sbb, the dividend is worth as much as 23sen/share, yield more than 12% nett

hng33

Posted by hng33 > 2014-02-11 15:42 | Report Abuse

But Francis Yeoh is smart, as if RM 1.6b use for dividend payout, it will not benefit YTLP share value but only mean to reward shareholder (of course Yeoh is also entitle largest beneficial). Therefore, its better to use RM 1.6b for sbb to enhance YTLP own share value, which in long term Yeoh family also benefit the most. Thus, invest in YTLP need a lot of patience, be long term investor

Posted by Fat Cat Tim Buddy > 2014-02-11 15:48 | Report Abuse

wa... if 1.6b dividend is 75% of yearly EPS, that means the annual profit must reach 2.13b..

wa.. that time, ytlpwr share will worth RM3.8 if the DY is 6%... kikiki...

Posted by Fat Cat Tim Buddy > 2014-02-11 15:50 | Report Abuse

FY is using YTLP money to increase the YTL stake in the YTPL thru sbb and share cancellation, once it reach his target number sbb will stop. After that YTLP will start to give dividend which will enrich YTL shareholder more since it own more of YTLP shares.

Yeoh family member + YTL corp collectively cotrol about 60% stake in YTLP, if treasury is cancel, their stake will boost to above 66%, which could trigger MGO, lead to privatization.

Posted by Fat Cat Tim Buddy > 2014-02-11 16:41 | Report Abuse

when about to turnover , they privatize it.. kikiki.. really licik kaki.

dont expect 20% premium, you should know who you dealing with here... ytl-cement is a good example...

Posted by Lam Kok Hoong > 2014-02-11 17:12 | Report Abuse

I remember 4 yrs back FY is telling they have 4b cash for M&A, but now got 9.6b. Net cash increased by 100% in 4yrs time.
Plus 1.6b spent on SBB, net cash in flow around 7b in 4yrs...almost 2b per yr...

In corporate finance, interest payout is consider cost and is tax deductable item, since they receive so much income, of course they will maximise the loan to reduce tax.

Government not in a hurry to roll out Project 3B

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 12, 2014): The Energy Commission (ST) has not awarded the 2,000MW Track 3B coal-fired power plant project (Project 3B), said Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili.

He was responding to a news report which claimed that the ST is due to announce the winning bidder of Project 3B as early as yesterday.

"No, it will not be announced today (Feb 11). It has not come to a conclusion, as there are still necessary processes to be completed," Ongkili told reporters on the sidelines after Tenaga Nasional Bhd's Chinese New Year charity lunch here yesterday.

The winner of the power plant project will be decided "in due course", he added.

Ongkili said the government is not in a hurry to roll out the proposed Project 3B, adding that there is no delay on the project as the tender process has already taken place.

An English daily reported that 1 Malaysia Development Bhd is likely to be named the preferred bidder for Project 3B, as the company had submitted the most competitive bid over the early favourite YTL Power International Bhd.
