KUALA LUMPUR: Shares in DBE Gurney Resources Bhd jumped as much as 16% after its largest shareholder offered a mandatory general offer (MGO) worth RM62.79mil.


The poultry firm jumped 16.67%, or 0.5 sen to 3.5 sen in early trade Tuesday with 960,000 million shares done.


DBE Gurnery has received a MGO from Doh Properties Holdings Sdn Bhd at 3.5 sen per share or a total amount of RM62.79mil.


DBE Gurney said it received the takeover offer after Doh Properties, through open market acquisitions, increased its shareholding in the integrated poultry group to 33.02% from 32.89%.


Under the Capital Markets and Services Act, Doh Properties is obliged to extend a mandatory takeover offer to acquire the remaining shares and warrants it does not own.


The 3.5 sen offer price represents a 7.36% premium to its five-day volume weighted average price of 3.26 sen.


Meanwhile, the offer price for DBE warrants is set a 1 sen per unit, or RM5.81mil in total.


The offer will remain open for acceptances for a period of not less than 21 days from the posting date. The offerors intends to maintain the listing status of DBE.
