malakoff bhd buys back its own shares. The purchases are between 90 sen and 93 sen. What is the point of shares buy back if eventually it slides down below your share buy back price. In such a case the corporate finance people from Malakoff together with the IB or institutional market maker for malakoff are confurmed idiots from birth! And in such a case this malakoff can fu.. off to hell together with their share buy back program.
Bro, what i am trying to tell you is that if you manage a share buy back prog, you must ensure that prices do not sway far from your average purchase. If you have to average downwards all the time, so how much money is needed and when can you profit? Then it would seem that they are no different from us, retail players.
Just my 2 sens worth!

But the saddest fact is that this outfit is run by a recycled CEO! And most of Tan Sri Bukhary's listed vehicle are non-performers now,,,, Zelan, MMC, DRB....Not his fault entirely, but becos non existent personnel talent in execution.

What if scenario: Could there be a possibility that if the counter was pushed up earlier before the results were out and without the share buy back, there would be bigger sell down yesterday.. So rather than face this possibility they were just letting the counter hover around 91 to 94 sen before results were out. If there were anymore sell-down it would have happened this morning due to contra players knee jerk reaction. Somehow it looks like the sell down has slowed down.

Now if the counter goes to PE 18, the price will be about 112 sen. Fundamentally b4 the next q result,112 sen seems a possibility.
Again this are just what if scenarios. To know more, you have to ask the market maker for malakoff.

1) This co did not lose money. In fact if you look at the revenues for many quarters, it is recurring constantly every Q, meaning come rain or come shine (pending no major earthquake, massive flooding, or agreement termination ...), there is always an uptake of this company's offerings. The recent Q revenue is 1.7 billion, with total revenue for 2017 at about 7 billion. Only thing is the NP is not up to expectations, which is about 302 million, PE 6.2. What is required is to primarily enhance cost efficiency and secure one or two projects in the near term. Just how many companies can generate about 7b revenue and 300 million plus earnings in bursa? Even YTL power is traded at PE 15, but by end 2018 it might be traded at PE 17 or 18. So what is fundamentally wrong with Malakoff if they are traded at PE 18 to be priced at between 115 -120 sen!
2) This is a large cap institutional stock with the IB as the market maker. Most of these institutions are still holding on to higher range prices. No problem for them to hold for the longer term. But the 6.2 sen total dividend becomes a sweetener for them to chase the stock becos the yield is about 6.9%, one of the highest dividend paying companies. Although if the price will go further down and the yield become higher, the stock averaging process becomes lower. And if the stock becomes lower, what happens to those pledged shares with the bank?
3) SBB: The co is not going to buy 500 million shares to keep. The statement of 10 % purchase is a standard clause. Notice that on Wednesday after results announcement only 8000 lots were traded, which many expected for the shares to be whacked down.. The SBB is good becos it has helped to mop up free float. Also noticed that the market maker did not allow the price to swing down much below than the SBB average purchase price which is now about 92 sen. Malakoff will release this treasury shares slowly but surely when the price goes up. They will not be buying 500 million shares for keeps. They are just functioning like another institutional player, but good thing is they sweep down the free float. Expect a more controlled play for this counter.
4) People can shout and instigate others to sell, but if they wanna buy from those that are in fear, I say go ahead. But make sure you yourself have the patience with this counter which is so institutionalised, being an elephant which is so bulky and cannot dance in the near term. If you wanna see action, might as well look elsewhere, as bursa has 3000 over counters. Good for those with holding power and storing it under the bed, wake up one morning and see it has grown by 30%. If you are a short term trader, you are wasting time with this counter.

This is talk 3 talk 4 session. I myself don't favor this co, but only giving my talk 3 talk 4, 2 sen worth of my perspective. If cannot understand, not my problem bro. If you wanna see fast pace action, take your money and go clubbing with the penny stock party where there is a lot of ass- buggers and blow-jobbers, Kah.kah.kah.....The devil's advocate.

MALAKOFF Corp Bhd’s 4Q17 core net profit came in at RM50.8mil, bringing FY17 earnings to RM319mil, which is below RHB Research’s expectations at 81% of its forecast, but within consensus estimates.

RHB said the main reasons for the negative surprise were the larger than-expected negative impact from the Segari power purchase agreement (PPA) which started in July 2017 and the unplanned outages at the Tanjung Bin Energy (TBE) in 4Q17, resulting in lower capacity payments.

Malakoff declared a second interim dividend of 3.7 sen per share, bringing to a full-year dividend of 6.2 sen a share share, which implied yield of 6.8%.

RHB pointed out that the payout implied a dividend payout ratio of 97.2%, significantly higher than its historical payout of 60%-75%.

Management indicated during its briefing that the group would pursue a higher dividend payout policy to provide more value to the shareholders.

RHB said that the unplanned outages in 4Q17 at TBE was due to boiler failure.

The group is still rectifying the issue and it expects to see normalised capacity payment from the second quarter once problems are solved.

All the major PPAs are still intact, and RHB expected capacity payments to be flat year-on-year and similar revenue levels in 2018 (other than Segari, whose PPA was revised lower).

RHB has reduced its forecast on Malakoff’s FY18 and FY19 earnings by 43% and 31% respectively to account for lower capacity payments from Segari and conservatively pricing in two outages at TBE in FY18.

However, dividend payout assumption rises to 90% from 60% previously, leading to yields estimate of 5.2% and 5.9% for FY18 and FY19. Despite the earnings cut, RHB liked Malakoff for its attractive dividend yield, low valuation following a major share price correction on the TBE outage and Segari PPA revision, as well as the recurring cash flow from its PPAs.

It maintained a “buy” call on Malakoff, but warned the key risks to its recommendation would be on further outages at TBE and higher losses from its joint ventures.
