PUTRAJAYA: The country lost at least RM277bil due to graft in the last five years, says Tan Sri Azam Baki (pic).
“This is based on the cumulative estimation of gross domestic product (GDP) from 2018 to 2023.
"This RM277bil could’ve been used to help the public in various aspects especially for the implementation of social projects such as repairing schools and hospitals," said Azam.
The MACC chief commissioner said this in his speech during the launch of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here on Tuesday (May 7).
“Therefore, to ensure that the fight against corruption will work, the implementation will use approaches and methods that can identify which sectors are exposed to corruption,” he said.
