PUTRAJAYA — The national Federal Development Authority (Felda) Settlers’ Day celebrations will be organised as a three-day event this year, a deputy minister said today.

Settlers’ Day falls on July 7, but the celebrations will be extended from July 21 to July 23 in Putrajaya, involving all Felda settlements in the country, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim.

“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has said that this year’s Settlers Day should be done at a national level with the cooperation of other government agencies,” he said during a press conference here today.

“We are expecting more than 25,000 people to attend the celebrations,” he added.

Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad said that he was “sure” that there will be special announcements regarding housing and other matters for Felda settlers to help alleviate their debt burden.

The celebration will be titled “Ekpresi Felda Negaraku Malaysia”.

PUTRAJAYA: Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad today said settlers are hoping that issues surrounding Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) will be resolved soon.

He said this was what he had gathered based on his observation and feedback from the settlers.

"Many settlers want to see the FGV issues to be settled amicably so that the company can continue focusing on being a high-performance company," he told reporters at a press conference on the upcoming Felda Settlers' Day national-level celebration.

...Meanwhile, credit ratings agency Moody’s Investor Service said FGV would remain as market leader in terms of output and scale as its annual CPO production was more than three million tonnes over its last three fiscal years.

The agency said FGV’s CPO production was 500,000 tonnes over Sime Darby Bhd and more than four times larger than IOI Corp Bhd’s and Genting Plantations Bhd’s output.

“We expect FGV will maintain its production leadership position as Sime Darby’s efforts to increase its CPO production through improving harvesting yields and productivity will likely be realised after 12 months,” said Moody’s...
