Price will go down in line with special dividend payment, but the price will pick as we head to 1 Qtr 2023, as Gamuda will announce further contract wins and there is much to grab in the local market as far as contracts are concerned. I

There is much to grab but then there are many tier 1 construction company too. They will need to award it equally. Rising material prices, worker wages and surprise purblic holiday (which i welcome) will increase the cost. Also the working hrs reduce from 48hrs/week to 45hrs/week starting In January will increase the operation cost.

Mabel King of Construction is on the Spotlight this week. Gamuda Bhd announced a special interim dividend of 38 sen per share, just over a month after the engineering, property and infrastructure company successfully completed its divestment of four highways to Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Bhd (ALR).

The special dividend’s ex-date is Dec 13, with entitlement on Dec 14. Last month, ALR said it has completed the acquisition of four highway concessionaires, following its issuance of sustainable sukuk murubahah amounting to RM5.5 billion in nominal value. The four highway toll concessionaires are Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak), Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd (SPRINT), Kesas Sdn Bhd (Kesas) and Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir dan Terowong Sdn Bhd (SMART).

Is anyone here able to confirm the statement below? Anyway, the Russo- Ukraine war & subsequent impact on energy supply will be good for solar as an alternative source plus the drop in solar panel costs will make them more viable venture.

as i said before, market will negate SD 40sen. Price now 3.50. Gamuda needs a massive infar. boost from Anwar
budget next year which will not come. Money will be used to support economy( handouts) and social program.

Gamuda recently revealed his plan to acquire a 30% stake in solar firm ERS Energy Sdn Bhd for RM200 million. The group has also earmarked RM2 billion for investment in renewable energy over the next five financial years to capitalise on growing demand in the segment.

I agree with pjflower.
No doubt Gamuda is a leading construction company, but is only in Malaysia.

When venturing into international arena, Gamuda is relatively small (some say peanut, whatever) although in the past, Gamuda had done jobs in Laos, Taiwan, India, Qatar, etc.

In the past, Gamuda had secured international projects due to the price strategy. But this strategy proven not workable. I got news that it applied the same strategy in Australia. Looks like quite desperate for projects since Malaysia is not moving well. Cash is needed (ie: by selling 4 highways) to finance the jobs. Do hope this time work well.

You can see after the Qatar 2 projects, it had been quite many years without international venture (happened to many Malaysia construction companies, too).

Many international workers like me observed that Malaysian contractors (few big players in Malaysia) brought Malaysian attitude while working internationally, ie: taking for granted, contractually naïve, wishing things goes well without problem, technically not on par with others. Just look at these few projects will do ----- WCT project (Meydan Race Course), Gamuda project (Qatar’s Dukhan Highway & NDIA airport), UEM project (Qatar’s Doha to Saudi Arabia highway). Improvement must be done otherwise better stay in Malaysia.

In short, Gamuda is no way come close to big players from Japan, France, USA, China. But I believe and hope it will catch up in the near future.

But do not get me wrong, I am a Gamuda share supporter. I hope I have provided my best knowledge here as a rational investor.

hello, leading in malaysia boleh lah, belum capai world class lagi lah. syarikat malaysia asyik dapat projek dengan harga murah, demi dapat projek, janji dapat projek saje, hal-hal yang lain belakang kira. attitude kena ubah ni. sebab itu sering bakar tangan. Orang Cina cakap jadi "lou chan". tapi, saya masih posif dengan gamuda, semoga dia maju dalam arena antarabangsa.

saya cakap fact sekarang ni. standard belum ada lagi. jangan jatuh cinta dengan syarikat yang engkau labur, bikin duit sudah.

I would take pjflower & wanutama2015's comments with intention to share. I will not take their comments as bashing this counter. I see both of them are giving valuable comments, and they might be the insiders without disclosing confidential info. but unfortunately investors do not like these type of comments...

to me, I agree that Gamuda is a leading construction in Malaysia, but to be world class, long way to go. do not think too big about this company, let's be realistic.

True there are punters here. Those who bought at low prices and subsequently sold and thereafter tried to suppress the price to make another round. Traders are everywhere. Construction stock prices could be volatile as any underpricing of tenders in billions could bankrupt the company.

Very true of the entire stock market in Malaysia..also counters with large share ownership by founders is also problematical as they dump shares as and when…they have no concern for shareholders of the company in fact they actually milk the system. That’s why we see laggard performance and profit taking when price goes up slightly.
