KUALA LUMPUR (June 20): Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin has resigned as independent director at Taliworks Corp Bhd effective Tuesday (June 20), after he resigned as managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) last month.

In Taliworks’ bourse filing on Tuesday (June 20), it said the 56-year-old has decided to step down having served the company for a cumulative term of nine years.

On May 5, TH announced that Amrin had completed his two-year term of service as the pilgrim fund’s MD and CEO, roles which he took on from May 6, 2021.

Following his resignation as the nominee director of TH, Amrin also resigned as non-independent and non-executive directors of TH Plantations Bhd and Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd.

Based on TH Plantations’ bourse filing on May 5, it said Amrin quit “to focus on other commitments”. Amrin has been on TH Plantations’ board since July 1, 2021.

Previously, Amrin was also executive officer of the Armed Forces Fund Board (2020), executive director and MD of Boustead Holdings Bhd (2020), and executive director and group MD of Sime Darby Property Bhd (2019).

Amrin had also been with Media Prima Bhd from 2001 to 2017, with his last position as executive director and group MD before he left the group.

On Tuesday, shares of Taliworks closed a sen or 1.2% lower to 82.5 sen, bringing it a market capitalisation of RM1.65 billion.
