KUALA LUMPUR: Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB) has partnered with Cenergi SEA Bhd to establish the region's first net zero carbon central business district (CBD) in Medini.

Cenergi Group chief executive officer Hairol Azizi Tajudin said the company's collaboration with IIB encompasses two primary objectives, namely providing renewable energy certificates (RECs) to bolster IIB's green initiatives and supplying solar energy to power the CBD and IIB's renewable energy (RE): Zone.

"Through this partnership, we aim to support IIB's commitment to sustainability and contribute to the development of renewable energy infrastructure in the region," he noted.

The CBD focuses on digitalisation, innovation and global business services (GBS), with an aim to bring together the strengths of both IIB and Cenergi to work on various RE exploration initiatives.

This includes exploring using RECs to achieve IIB's immediate sustainability goals.

By combining IIB's development expertise with Cenergi's deep knowledge of renewable energy solutions, the partnership will accelerate the creation of Medini's net zero carbon CBD.

IIB president and chief executive officer Datuk Idzham Mohd Hashim said this collaboration, coupled with the collective efforts of ten esteemed partners, signifies a pivotal moment in the company's journey towards achieving its net zero aspirations in Medini.

"We are thrilled to join forces with Cenergi and leverage their extensive experience in sustainable energy solutions.

"By combining our expertise, we are confident in making significant progress towards establishing the first net zero carbon CBD centering on digital, innovation and GBS.

"This is a crucial step towards a cleaner, greener future, and we are committed to realising this vision for the benefit of generations to come," he said in a statement.
