KUALA LUMPUR: The government will reopen a second round of the Central Database Hub (Padu) towards the end of the year after making some improvements.
Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said there have been certain "unique cases" that hindered some people from updating their data.
He said these cases included households who were unable to update and verify their data as their head of households had chosen against updating their data on Padu.
He said the government would gather all user experience and make the necessary updates.
"We would reopen (Padu) towards the end of the year or a few months after we have implemented the targeted subsidy and distributed the aid.
"And we would then reopen it about two to three months at one time in a year for people to update (their data) after we have upgraded the features.
"But if we don't close it (the registration date on March 31), then we cannot move on to provide targeted subsidies," Rafizi told reporters after the soft launch of the KL20 summit here today.
He said the government could not build the features in Padu to meet everyone's expectations during its introduction. He said instead, the government chose to meet the needs of at least 80 per cent of Malaysians.
