KUALA LUMPUR: In the latest episode of Beyond the Headlines, we discussed a range of pressing topics together with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN), starting with the challenges in regulating Ramadan bazaars and more.

KPDN Enforcement Division Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Section director Zubir Hamsa joined us on set to shed light on how enforcement gathers evidence against non-compliant traders.

Zubir shared strategies done by officers for better collaboration with consumer associations and shared considerations on proposals to blacklist errant traders.

The interview touches upon specific incidents such as the contaminated murtabak found at a Ramadan bazaar and issues surrounding subsidised cooking oil sales at local grocers.

We also discussed the enforcement of price control measures during festive seasons, particularly with Hari Raya approaching, and explored the mechanisms behind monitoring and regulating the sale of subsidised cooking oil.

Concerns about shortages and measures to prevent subsidy misappropriation, including combating diesel smuggling were also shared.
