HULU SELANGOR: "How am I supposed to know? I'm neither the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) chief commissioner nor the IGP (Inspector-General of Police). I don't know."

This was Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said's immediate response today when asked about the anti-graft's move to summon Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

When further asked about whether the opposition would exploit the issue during this Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform)

replied:

"I already answered that. I'm not the MACC chief commissioner, therefore I cannot comment on that.

"To investigate on the matter, it is under the purview of the agency (MACC) as an independent body. I'm not involved, so I have no idea. It's best for us to focus on our service throughout the campaign here.

"The people here are going to live with their newly-elected assemblyman later (after polling day on May 11)," she told reporters after a session with Pakatan Harapan machinery today.

Earlier today, Shukri was hauled up by the MACC to have his statement recorded over his son's alleged false claims issue.

The 63-year old, who is Perlis Pas Commissioner, was present at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya early this morning.

The MACC is looking into the alleged supply of drinking water to the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail in its probe into false claims amounting to RM600,0000 involving Shukri's son.

Based on a copy of a payment note dated Feb 19 that went viral, the RM19,505 worth of drinking water claim was allegedly supplied to Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin. The ruler is receiving treatment at the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital here.

However, it was learnt that no such supply was delivered as claimed. The authenticity of the document could not be immediately verified.
