PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast for most parts of Malaysia, including Selangor and Penang.
In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 12.45pm on Saturday (Nov 17), thunderstorms are expected over the state of Penang, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Sarawak.
Also affected are Penang (Southwest Penang Island and Northeast Penang Island), Perak (Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh), Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor (Hulu Langat), Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin).
Other areas are Melaka, Johor, Sarawak (Serian, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang.
The advisory is until 2pm today.
The Northeast Monsoon phase is expected to start on Nov 5 and continue until March 2025, bringing about five to seven episodes of heavy rainfall throughout this period.
