Sept 1958 Joined Federal Treasury as a Malaysian Civil Service (MCS) Officer. Promoted to Head of Economic Division. Sept 1968 Seconded to become Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) representing Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana and Libya for a period of 2 years at Washington DC, USA. Sept 1971 Rejoined Malaysian Federal Treasury as First Deputy Secretary General responsible for the Finance, Economic and Tax divisions including Malaysia’s financial relations with the IMF and the World Bank. April 1974 Appointed Deputy Managing Director and subsequently Managing Director of Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd. April 1979 Joined Sime Darby Bhd as Director of Group Corporate Finance and Planning. Sept 1982 Joined AmMerchant Bank Bhd as Managing Director. Nov 1989 Joined MUI Group. May 1990 Rejoined AMMB Group as Managing Director. Appointed Adviser of AMMB on 1 January 1994. 15 August 1991 to present Appointed as Director of AMMB Holdings Bhd. January 1997 to present Appointed as Independent Non Executive Director of AMMB.
