He joined the Police Force in 1951 and rose to become Director of the Anti-Narcotic Branch, Federal Police Headquarters in 1982. From 1982 to 1984, he was the Chief Police Officer in Johor and between 1984 to 1985, he was the Director of Management, Police Headquarters in Bukit Aman. He was also the Deputy Inspector General of the Royal Malaysian Police since 1985 before retiring from the civil service in May 1989.
