Working Experience
Dato’ Lim joined the UMW Group in 1975 as an Executive Engineer and worked in the engineering, service, marketing and sales operations of the Group for 12 years in various managerial positions. In 1986 Dato’ Lim was appointed as the Managing Director of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company between UMW and Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan. His primary role was to restructure the company to survive in the era of the National Car. After successfully making Toyota the top selling brand in the Non National Car market for 15 years, Dato’ Lim retired in 2004. Dato’ Lim was previously a director of Proton Holdings Berhad and Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad and various other private companies. He was the Chairman of T & K Autoparts which started as a Toyota plant manufacturing steering gear systems for the ASEAN market and which later also exported to Taiwan, Turkey and other countries. Dato’ Lim also sat on the board of Kayaba (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Assembly Services Sdn Bhd, Automotive Industries Sdn Bhd, as well as UMW Toyota Capital Sdn Bhd. He also played an active role in the automotive industry serving as the Vice President of the Malaysian Automotive Association.
