She started her career with Coopers & Lybrand Malaysia (legacy firm of PriewaterhouseCoopers) in 1981 as an articled clerk and left the firm in 1995 having qualified as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1987. She led audits of listed and unlisted companies and groups across a broad spectrum of industries including stockbrokers, banks, insurance, manufacturing and trading concerns.
Between 1995 and 1997, she was stationed in Coopers & Lybrand Shanghai and later in Beijing, China focusing on the training function for professional staff and at the same time, managed a portfolio of local audit clients.
She rejoined Coopers & Lybrand Malaysia in 1998, during the Asian financial crisis, focusing on debt restructuring and insolvency.
Her main focus then was to advise clients in undertaking formal and informal multi-lender loan restructuring schemes involving local and foreign loans as well as bonds.
She also pioneered advisory services to local banks in their sale of non-performing loans portfolios.
In 2007, she was made a partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia specialising in Deals.
She led/project-managed engagements involving various forms of corporate and debt restructuring, reorganisation, cash flow monitoring, asset ring fencing and performance improvement for clients ranging from financial institutions and corporate to government ministries or government-related agencies until her retirement on June 2022.
