Datin Chee Yoke Kuan, began her career with one of the Big 5 accounting firms, serving in the auditing and assurance sector for more than 10 years from March 1997 to August 2007. Thereafter, she served as the Technical Director of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) from October 2007 to September 2011. During her tenure with MIA, she had provided leadership to technical department of the Institute, responsible for the set up of a formal Standard-Setting Board for Audit and Assurance and Ethics of the Institute as well as the Financial Reporting Standards Implementation Committee.
She was also the Technical Advisor to the members of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)s Developing Nations and Small-and-Medium Practices. Subsequently, she joined the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) from 2012 to 2023 and had held various senior positions as Head of Education, ASEAN / Asia Pacific, Regional Consultant, ASEAN & ANZ and Education Relationships Lead. During her 12 years services, she was responsible to oversee strategies and growth of operations with leadership team in areas such as evaluation of financials, monitoring and risk assessment; and develop solution focusing on financial sustainability, driving customer satisfaction and process improvement. She has also participated in World Bank funded capacity building projects in Vietnam to support convergence of IFRS, and Laos on advisory for the establishment of an effective structure of a professional accountancy organisation.
