Dato' Abdul Wahid is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom and a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Dato' Abdul Wahid has been appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Telekom Malaysia Berhad with effect from 1 July 2004. Dato' Abdul Wahid was formerly the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of United Engineers (Malaysia) Berhad and UEM World Berhad. He was also the Executive Vice Chairman of PLUS Expressways Berhad and Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan Berhad. He is presently a member of the Financial Reporting Foundation of Malaysia and Lembaga Tabung Haji's Investment Panel. Dato' Abdul Wahid was previously the Chief Financial Officer of Telekom Malaysia Berhad. Prior to joining Telekom Malaysia Berhad, he served as the Director of Group Corporate Services cum Divisional Director, Capital Market & Securities of Amanah Capital Partners Berhad. During his previous employment, he has also served as Chairman of Amanah Short Deposits Berhad as well as Director of Alliance Merchant Bank Berhad and several other companies in the financial services sector. He was a past Chairman of the Association of the Discount Houses in Malaysia.
