Working Experience
Dr Mohd Zaki Bin Hamzah joined GPB as CEO on February 1, 2022 and was retired on 12 March 2024. Prior to this appointment, he was the Executive Director of the GPB Group from September 3, 2021 to February 1, 2022. He is holding directorships in several timber and forestry-related companies, Dr Mohd Zaki is also highly regarded for his valuable experience in management at both national and state levels. Dr Mohd Zaki was an academician from January 1988 to January 2020. He closed the doors to his academic career as an Associate Professor (DS 54) with 16 publications in refereed journals as well as over 14 R&D projects during his tenure at Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM). In 2015, he became a member of the Technical Committee for the 100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign, part of the Greening Malaysia Programme established by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. His academic credentials and vast experience in the timber and forestry industry brought about many invitations to numerous workshops and seminars in the capacities of Session Chairman, Speaker and Co-organiser cum Moderator, both nationally and internationally. More recently, he became a member of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) from May 2020 to October 2021. Involved in several prominent Government agencies, he has been a member of the Selection Management System (SMS) Concept and Practice Review Panel, appointed by the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in June 2021. The following year, he was appointed to the Technical Advisory Panel of Research Programmes for the Forest Biotechnology division of FRIM. Presently, Dr Mohd Zaki sits on several Boards namely Terengganu Timber Industry Training Centre Production (TTITCP), and Kumpulan Pengurusan Kayu Kayan Trengganu (KPKKT). He also owns 60,000 shares in GPB.
