Encik Tarmizi bin Ismail graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the State University of New York at Binghamton, United States of America in 1984.
Working Experience
Encik Tarmizi commenced his career upon his graduation as an Administrative Officer in the Economics Department in Bank Negara Malaysia ("BNM"). Subsequent to his position as an Administrative Officer in the Economics Department, he then held the position as an Administrative Officer in the Bank Regulation Department. Thereafter a year later, he was given the position as a Special Assistant to the adviser in the Bank Regulation Department. He was later promoted in 1986 as Personal Assistant to the Governor of BNM. Subsequently, he was transferred and given position as an Administrative Officer in the Banking Development. In 1987, he was seconded to Bank Negara New York Representative Office as the Senior Administrative Officer. He left BNM in 1989 as a Senior Administrative Officer in the Exchange Control Department and subsequently joined D&C Sakura Merchant Bankers Sdn Bhd as Fund Manager heading the Investment Department where he was primarily involved in investment management for five (5) years. In 1995, Encik Tarmizi joined Land & General Berhad as a General Manager where he was responsible for the business development and corporate services. Encik Tarmizi resigned in 2000 to establish his own executive search firm. known as Tarmizi Tun Dr Ismail & Partners Sdn Bhd. To date, he remains as the Managing Partner in the firm and is involved in executive search and human resource consultancy. From 2009 to 2014, Encik Tarmizi had also held directorships in various public companies. In respect of the directorships he held for a period of more than five (5) years, he was an Independent Non-Executive Director in HwangDBS Investment Bank Berhad (now known as Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad) and Hwang-DBS (Malaysia) Berhad (now known as Hwang Capital (Malaysia) Berhad) from 2009 to 2014 which was listed on Bursa Securities.
