Datuk Kamal bin Khalid (Datuk Kamal) began his early career in the Corporate Finance Department of Bumiputera Merchant Bankers and continued to work in various companies involved in technology and venture financing before joining the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad) in July 1988.
In February 2002, he became a policy aide to the Deputy Prime Minister and. Head of Communications for the Prime Minister in October 2003, coordinating media and external reslations for the Prime Ministers Office, structuring policy communications for the Prime Ministers signature programmes and initiatives.
Datuk Kamal joined Media Prima Berhad as Chief Operating Officer, Media Prima International in May 2009 and subsequently, on 2 August 2017 was appointed as Group Managing Director until 31 March 2020. At Media Prima Berhad, he implemented the first phase of the Groups business transformation efforts involving diversification of revenue across three key areas such as digital, commerce and going beyond Malaysia.
Datuk Kamal was an independent non-executive director of Utusan Melayu (M) Berhad from June 2004 to April 2009 and served as a member of the Audit Committee during that period.
Datuk Kamal is a member of the Board of MATRADE since February 2018. He is currently the President of Eisenhower Fellows Association Malaysia and Industrial Advisroy Committee of UniKL.
