Mr. Lee Lai Huat obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with honours from the University of London in 1994. He was one of the 19 students in Malaysia who obtained an LL.B second class upper honours from University of London that year. His academic achievement led him to a full scholarship to sit for the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) which he subsequently obtained the next year. He obtained his Masters of Law (LL.M) from University of Malaya in 2005.
Mr. Lee’s practice areas are mergers and takeovers, foreign investments and capital and debt market exercises. He attends to the necessary documentation process and due diligence reviews of those matters, besides playing consultancy and advisory roles. He structures and sets up legal entities for foreign investors in Malaysia to suit their objectives, which invariably involves attendance to the procurement of licenses from the Government and various governmental bodies and agencies, such as the Foreign Investment Committee and Malaysian Industrial Development Authority.
He also attends to various types of commercial transactions, ranging from distribution and manufacturing arrangements to the provision of management and consultancy services.
Of late, he has been getting more involved in procurement contracts made by the firm’s clients with the Malaysian Government.
Mr. Lee’s experience in real estate property transactions has developed since his early years of legal practice. From the clear-cut residential real estate that he used to handle then, he now handles purchase of real estate properties en bloc, acquisitions by real estate investment trusts and disposals of real estate properties and attached assets by receivers and managers as well as liquidators.
