Agree with the points on the risks of GLCs balance sheets which may not be transparent at times.

However, gov related companies do have the advantage in stock price stability as they are usually in the portfolios of government investment arms like EPF, LTH and PNB. The price will be relatively stable unless the government start selling.

the rubber glove stocks have mostly reached the near term peak and some corrected already following their recent results.

the growth of rubber stock is normalizing, so use your own judgement to decide how long to keep the rubber glove stocks should you wish to invest in them.

Fundamentally NAIM is fine. Can keep it for a while and keep an eye on its next quarterly financial result.

2011-04-28 11:21 | Report Abuse

The play for NAIM is over. Those who believe in the fundamental of this stock may continue to hold for long term. The impatience ones will offload it gradually and move on to other more active stocks.

The ex-date is 21/06/2011. So you need to purchase the share and hold it on 20/06/2011 to be entitled for the dividend.

This is my favourite stock.. at least for now. Have kept it patiently for almost 1 year without much movement.. then suddenly shoot up to the moon.

In stock investment, patience do pay! :)

I expect this year will be a tricky year for stock traders/investors. Stock picking will be very important.

As for me, I still favour fundamentally sound second-tier Oil & Gas companies. There are many ETP projects which the gov and petronas will need to give out this year to support the economy.. and those are the companies that will most likely benefit from these projects over the next 1-2 years at least.

I currently hold the following stocks SAPCRES, COASTAL, THPLANT, AXIATA, FREIGHT and NAIM. All positive except for NAIM - got a bit greedy when reading about its possible Sarawak play recently. Considering letting NAIM go soon depends on the technicals of the stock.

What about you? Any luck with the stocks you trade? Last 2 years and this year (up till now) should be good for most traders.

Used to buy this stock just when it declared hefty dividend late last year. Then let it go before the div ex-date :)

Only problem is this is not a very liquid stock.. so not much trading opportunity.. and its not a stock that I'd keep invested for long term. For long term, I still prefer Oil and Gas counters.

** Tricubes shares continue hike despite bad press **

KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 â?? Tricubes Berhad was the biggest gainer in early trading on Bursa Malaysia today, rising 17.5 sen to 33.5 sen despite continued bad publicity and no detailed plans on how it will generate revenue from the 1Malaysia Email project.

Trading volume was high as the stock continues a steady climb after rising 6.5 sen yesterday on news that it will spearhead the Najib administrationâ??s efforts to establish a secure digital channel between the government and Malaysians aged 18 and over.

The little known ACE-listed company, which is in danger of being delisted due to financial irregularities, said yesterday that it would recoup an initial RM5.3 million investment via advertising, online shopping and digital delivery of government bills and notices.

Unbelievable!!

Anything can happen to the stock price for short term.

It just means that I won't keep this stock for long term investment unless I know that the company is using the money for high return investments.

This has a good background analysis of Tricubes:
http://anilnetto.com/governance/accountability/tricubes-and-1malaysia-email/

Some excerpt below:

"So, who owns Tricubes anyway?

Apart from CEO Khairul Zainal Mokhtar's 31 per cent stake, Commerce Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd (CTV) owns 16 per cent of Tricubes. Who owns CTV? According to the official portal of the Malaysian Science and Technology Information Centre (Mastic), CTV is a "partnership of Bank Negara Malaysia and the Commerce Group in promoting and developing technology financing in Malaysia".

And "CTV is managed by CAV Private Equity Management Sdn Bhd, a member of the Commerce Asset-Holding Bhd group of companies."

So who actually owns CTV? CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, as can be seen below in CIMB's Annual Report for 2010.

Among the non-executive directors of Tricubes is Khairul's father-in-law, former commissioner of police Zaman Khan."

Many Malaysians objected the 1Malaysia email project run by this company. PM Najib even had to explain that this project is privately funded.. which many doubt so.

Generally, private placement means the company's fundamental is poor, hence they need additional cash to fund some projects, expansion plan or operating costs.

Over the long term, this excercise will dilute earnings which lead to lower valuation of the company and will bring the price down.

The only exception is if the private placement is to fund some projects with lucrative returns or extraordinary purchases, which is unlikely in most cases.

BN retains two-thirds in Sarawak. Lets see how this result shall impact the stock market on Monday. Lets hope this will be a positive one especially on those sarawak stocks that are actively covered here.

A major lesson learnt is to win the stock market game in malaysia we need to understand and follow closely the political trends.

You are right that one should never analyze a stock solely based on fundamental, especially when the technicals tell otherwise. However most people ignored the technicals simply because they have invested in the stock earlier!

ACE market is too risky for me. I still prefer to go for the small-mid size companies with good fundamentals (strong BETAs).

Btw, I have an offer from a remisier for private placement on another ACE IPO (MClean). Let me know if anyone is interested and I can help to link you to the remisier.
