i am not a very technological stock guy... only stock i study in this segment is tekseng..... just my own understanding until now... the above mention retrenchment of the above mention production line is involve the line which is taiwan solartech and tekseng cooperate line, tekseng only earn fix rate from that line..i myself think that is solartech cutting order from TS solar so TS solar have to do some retrenchment....the line 1-4 is the basic line and earn the most... but today selling volume is really big and scare me.... i still hold some of my tekseng and hope Mr loh can really be a resposible and tell us some clue of the current business..

bro Ahbeng11, i think you are right in a sense, but do take note that the solar panel price decrease drastically over years and the set become cheaper over years, but thing happening in US is the solar panel price had gone down but the labor cost had gone up so the application price is not reduced too much... but with more people involve in this it will finally become cheaper... it just like settling up a aircond at home.. no need specialist to do that anymore. and finally i think it will be like settling up a personal computer where you go to the shop and buy then you can use it that day.....
my mum bought a few solar panel for LED light few years back for my rabbit i kept outdoor... that save the cost of applying new wire system all the way and the light....we like the system so much that the cost of solar panel portable battery set and light is cheaper than doing the wire plus labor cost...but that is not for power generation yet...
but try to imagine the technology will advance, and in Solar many people consider it as blazing fast advancement....and with the joint force of big power in the world solar will finally be popular..... many third world country start to use solar and bypass our development from coal to LNG to hydro solar etc.... they use solar geothermal straight-away....

and there is a incentive for using a solar panel made in malaysia.... and tekseng product is of international quality using taiwan lastest PV technology....

Overview of the FiT System in Malaysia

Malaysia's Feed-in Tariff (FiT) system obliges Distribution Licensees (DLs) to buy from Feed-in Approval Holders (FIAHs) the electricity produced from renewable resources (renewable energy) and sets the FiT rate. The DLs will pay for renewable energy supplied to the electricity grid for a specific duration.

By guaranteeing access to the grid and setting a favourable price per unit of renewable energy, the FiT mechanism would ensure that renewable energy becomes a viable and sound long-term investment for companies industries and also for individuals.

Key terminologies in FiT:

Distribution Licensees: Companies holding the licence to distribute electricity (e.g. TNB, SESB, NUR).
Feed-in Approval Holder: An individual or company who holds a feed-in approval certificate issued by SEDA Malaysia. The holder is eligible to sell renewable energy at the FiT rate.
FiT rate: Fixed premium rate payable for each unit of renewable energy sold to Distribution Licensees. The FiT rate differs for different renewable resources and installed capacities. Bonus FiT rate applies when the criteria for bonus conditions are met.
Indigenous: Renewable resources must be from within Malaysia and are not imported from other countries.
Duration: Period of which the renewable electricity could be sold to distribution licensees and paid with the FiT rate. The duration is based on the characteristics of the renewable resources and technologies. The duration is 16 years for biomass and biogas resources, and 21 years for small hydropower and solar photovoltaic technologies.

PUTRAJAYA: The government today agreed to retain the electricity tariff rebate of 1.52 sen/kWh in the peninsula and to continue reducing the average electricity tariff of 1.20 sen/kWh in Sabah and Federal Territory of Labuan for the period July 1 to Dec 31 this year as enjoyed in the past six months.

dear hippo.... i wish i could find the answer for the expansion plan too...but correct translation for the article mean postponed temporarily in mandarin i think...i try to glace through TS solar, tekseng even Solartech but cant find any reliable info or source.... if someone have info pls share to us.... but in my own opinion.... delaying for expansion to later quarter maybe a wise change of management, as the price is low now( everybody think the price will recover but how much nobody can tell ) most ppl believe price recovery may happen around early to mid Q4.... so better expand at a better timing... as the solar panel price is really challenging now....

world is really moving forward to solar energy and other renewable energy.... solar industry is facing downturn as every other industry... it is always cyclical..now they facing downward pressure is mainly due to over production to chase china subsidy policy before 30 june... and malaysia we have few advantages for being a SEA country, higher profit margin, easy asses to local market and not bound to US anti dumping policy... by looking at the bigger picture i believe Tekseng have a bright future...

actually just one question i keep ask myself... if solartech is aiming to sell TS solar product to taiwan then china which profit margin is lower... then solartech can invest in it own factory in taiwan rather than invest in malaysia... they set up in malaysia for 2 reason that i know of... one better margin due to less price war in SEA... second can export to EU/USA easier due to no anti dumping policy apply...

ya currently solar is facing overstock in china due to june 31 subsidiary rush... but i believe the outlook will improve in Nov/ Dis when china big company is ordering new solar panel....

TS solar is targeting SEA and malaysia market.... taiwan is only part of the business..... and taiwan solar company is having problem compete with the chinese product....and glut is always there in solar business... good thing is diversification...

TS solar subsidiary of Tekseng... is the main producer for solar product for this company... and taiwan 升阳科，co owned TS solar with tekseng... their main customer from last year report show they mainly export to Taiwan and some other country.. internal consumption for Malaysia also play a very important role.... but what is the deal for 升阳科 and tekseng i really have no idea... in my opinion glut in common in solar business like other production counter too.. but what i like tekseng is diversification of PVC and other business.....
