I don't understand why fund managers/traders in Malaysia only favour selected stocks, always those familiar names in the "Movers" list, sigh ... No other better stocks meh?

This stock really peculiar, it has been closing within 0.30-0.315 daily since 13 June, such a small trading range despite having reasonable volume. What is going on?

I m looking at this company now... And I understand better why its profit margin, ROA and ROE seem less attractive compared to other property counters, it is because it has rather substantial hotel/resort properties sitting in its balance sheet - Damai Laut and Swiss Garden hotel chain. So, it is not a full fledged property developer. They have been delivering consistent revenue and dividend, and I am wondering if this counter deserve some attention ...

Extracted from MNRB 31 March 2012 Annual Report p.205:
The Company did not elect for the irrevocable option to disregard the Section 108 balance. Accordingly, during the transitional period, the Company may utilise the credits in the Section 108 balance as at 31 December 2007 to distribute cash dividend payments to ordinary shareholders as defined under the Finance Act 2007. The Company also has tax exempt income available for distribution of approximately RM60,588,000 (2012: RM60,461,000) as at 31 March 2012. As at 31 March 2012, the Company’s Section 108 balance amounting to RM148,862,000, are sufficient to pay franked dividends out of its entire retained earnings.

Since the single tier system was introduced in 2008, companies with s108 tax credit balance are allowed to distribute frank dividend till s108 balance is fully utilized or up to 31.12.2013 (whichever earlier), after which the s108 account is deemed zerorised, and all dividend will be tax exempt. I also tend to think that the substantial dividend is related to the unutilized s.108 balance.

There is an interim dividend of 8 sen per share with ex-date 19 July, which is "theoretically" incorporated into the current price of 2.05. Judge it for yourself whether is a good buy or not.
It is a "diversified" group which has strong plantation and property divisions. Dividend is consistent too. Other than that, there is a possibility of REIT listing or spinning off the property division as they have good properties on hand e.g. Wisma Hap Seng @ Jln P Ramlee & its adjacent buildings (under construction & recently completed) and they own 49.99% of the Citibank building @ Jln Ampang.

Not sure about Affin but I doubt AMMB can offer high price as they have already bought Kurnia and MBf Cards last year, hence, capital is tight. AMMB already has its own AmSecurities and its Fund Mgmt arm is quite strong too, don't think it can justify a premium buying price. Furthermore, I think stock broking biz not as lucrative anymore.

I think Malton has better development mix, not just residential but commercial properties as well (like retail malls, shop office, etc), hence, not really directly impacted by DIBS.

Seems like Malton not in the list of today's rally.

Actually if you cash out at a loss, what to do with the money? Everything is also risky now ... Gold price droppig, invest in property scared interest rate up / bubble burst ... Put in the bank? Buy FX? Keep at home?

I hold this counter for quite long, even before the bonus issue (early 2011) as I thought it has yet to unlock the value of the its vast land bank & building. It didn't move to my target price till just before the GE13 and I just sold off the shares (better look for other companies).

Still deciding whether to pick up or not ... But Sephiroth's observation is true, look at GOB next door already no strength but Malton still holding.

I can see that the only income generating property is the Andaman, not sure about the Bintan property which constitute most of the NTA. What is the "potential"?

Agree that Malton looks more promising than Tambun and GOB. Owner has managed to bring in prominent names like Banyan Tree and Harrods Hotel, wife is running the Crabtree and Evelyn brand, sounds "branded" to me, ha ha!
Do you have any hidden gem for 2013?

Company's principal activities are trading & services and property development. It distributes home appliances and healthcare devices like Elba, Tuscani, Faber, Omron, etc. Saw its office in Kepong when I passed by Desa Parkcity last week, then found this stock recommended by another blog.
