In the soft economy cycle, sound investment decision should avoid any conglomerate with huge debt. The reason is the acquisition of the subsidiaries is very costly during good times involving of payment of goodwill and unsustainable profit in the bad time.

In bad times, conglomerate with un synergistic businesses in the group will be suffered the most and posed nearly insurmountable management challenges.

When profit is trended down, the price of stock will follow through. Very often, the price even dropped dipper because of some institutional divest the share but not supported by the retail buyer.

With the weak ringgit and without export earning insurance, the company revenue will be dropped in line with the contraction in domestic consumption. Margin be under severe pressure. Company can't generate enough cash flow to sustain it operation.
