WITH the Immigration Department coming down hard against employers who hire illegal foreign workers, My EG Services Bhd (MyEG) is seen to be at a major turning point.

CIMB Research said that the future looked rosy for the company going forward, as registration of illegal foreign workers was expected to pick up over the next few months.

For every illegal foreign worker registered, MyEG receives a RM100 registration fee. On top of that, RM70-RM80 more is earned if the employers buy compulsory foreign workers insurance from MyEG.

The company also provided Celcom sim cards to the registered foreign workers to lodge a report against employers who mistreat illegal foreign workers. It is learnt that there is a revenue sharing agreement with Celcom if a foreign worker uses a Celcom sim card.
“While the Government has not made any more announcements on the rehiring programme, MyEG website shows that this programme is still ongoing. However, the company did not indicate the number of registered illegal foreign workers.

“We target one million illegal foreign workers to be registered in the financial years of 2016 and 2017 (FY16-17).

“This could surprise on the upside if more small and medium enterprises employers register their illegal foreign workers,” said CIMB Research in its report.

The government-initiated rehiring programme of illegal foreign workers which started on Feb 15 and ended on June 30, saw merely 300,000 illegal foreign workers being registered. About 180,000 of them did not have proper travel documents.

The research house retained its “add” call on MyEG shares and also left the target price unaltered at RM4.71.
