Hello everyone. Need your comments and explanation on what is Ex-Dividend.

If the ex-date for the dividend means that any purchase of shares ON and AFTER or only After that date can no longer entitled for the dividend?

Eg, SP Setia's dividend, the ex-date is 16.6.2017, so I only need to hold the share till end of 15.6.2017 right, on the 16.6.2017 I can sell off the shares?

After pushing almost to RM3.97, now drop back to RM3.88. How come ppl not interested in dividend? Ex-dividend, price might drop further. :(

The reason I am actually thinking of holding the call warrant i bought till expiry is because it is actually trading at discount (negative premium) compared to the mother share, i.e. if the cw expires today, I would make more money compared to its current warrant price.

I have a question for you and if you dont mind answering, what are the costs involved if I were to hold a call warrant until expiry. If the Call Warrant is in the money, the IB would need to pay the difference between the exercize price and the weighted average 5/6 day closing price of the stock before expiry. The cost would be the cost I paid to buy the warrant and the conversion ratio.My question is, is there any other hidden cost like admin fees, brokerage fees etc?

Alex, I think it may affect the inflow of funds from foreigners. Any uncertainties there might affect their investments decision i.e. invest abroad e.g. Malaysia or domestically (within their country)....

Maybe all waiting for UK election results first. Today is their election if not mistaken.

short sell is not opened for retail investor (meaning ikan bilis). Short selling is only available to the big boys (e.g. institutional funds like EPF, fund managers).

So we can forget doing short selling in Bursa. There's only 1 position retail investor can take, that is long.
