Bahari, the fifth of seven siblings, lost his father when he was nine. His life became even harder as he had to depend on his mother who struggled to earn a living for the family.

"Around the 1960s, conditions were different than how it is now. Added to the fact that staying in an Orang Asli village that was about 20km from the nearest town, which was Tanjung Tualang, everything was less than rosy.

"In fact, I only came to know in the later years from my late mother that all my other siblings had passed away, leaving only me and my elder sister, without knowing the exact cause of their deaths.

"There was no electricity in our village, and we were fortunate enough to get clean water supply from tin miners, who by chance lived close to the village. It was water from three main pipes that was shared with the whole village.

Known for his expertise in areas of Scientific Data Visualisation, Computer Graphics and Network Security, he has served with USM for more than 24 years and achieved numerous successes throughout his career, especially with regards to academic development and research.

"My aim in life is to serve, provide my expertise and contribute my capabilities to USM, my students, my community and my family," said Bahari, who graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the South Australian Institute of Technology in Australia in 1989.

To fulfil a requirement by the Malaysian Public Service Department (JPA), which specifies that those who intend to serve in the public sector need to have an Honours degree, he then pursued an additional year of study at Flinders University, Australia (1991) to obtain an Honours before completing his Doctoral studies (Ph.D) at Leeds University, United Kingdom (1995).

GEORGE TOWN: Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)'s Professor Dr Bahari Belaton created history by becoming the first Orang Asli to be appointed dean of USM School of Computer Sciences (SOCS) effective yesterday.

Bahari, who belongs to the Semai tribe of Tangkai Cermin in Perak, also added another feather to his cap when he was appointed National Advanced IPv6 Centre (NAv6) director.

With these two appointments, Bahari is believed to be the first Orang Asli to be appointed as a dean in Malaysian history and also the first to hold two head of department positions simultaneously in an institution of higher learning in Malaysia.

The DG must resign if he has dignity. These death and infection all under his watch. He knows these occurrences if he is not sleeping in his job. Nothing was done to the SOP since he took over. But then again, why resign when you have no dignity just like the rest?

Another racist celebrity frog jumping from Umno to Semangat46 back to Umno and again from Umno to Bersatu. An opportunist politician waiting to exploit situation for his own benefit. This appointment is a reward for pledging allegiance to PM Muhaiyaddin as ex PM Tun Mahathir did not offer him any post while in office.

UBUNTU...a story from Africa..The motivation behind Ubuntu culture.
An Anthropologist proposed a game to the African Tribal children's.Placed baskets of sweets 100 m away.Anyone reaches first--- Get all the sweets.
Do you know what the children's did..?
They held each other's hand ran towards the basket, divided the sweets n enjoyed it. When asked, they replied UBUNTU..which means...How come one can be happy when the others are sad..I am becoz we are...
In Malaysia it's different..If you just want to walk fast, walk Alone, but if you want to walk far, walk together...

The narrative pushed by anti-Anwar elements is always about his ambition to be PM.

Why don’t they focus on the man and his ideas on governance, economic development, corruption, race relations, religious integration, et cetera?

Any judgment must be reserved and made only when he ascends to the PM post when turning his ideas into concrete actions.

Let’s not forget that during the 14th general election, voters made the sacrifices to turn up in huge numbers to put Harapan in power over a corrupt, racially divisive regime.

We shall never forget those traitors and turncoats who caused the downfall of Harapan.

In Malaysia blatant racial discrimination is constructed I numerous legislation, embedded in official policy guidelines and practiced daily in all departmental administration, taken all these cumulatively racisms of its kind has become entrenched in Malaysia expressed overtly in attitude and covertly in judiciary and other public law enforcement agencies. It is so commonly practiced the victims have got accustomed to it while cursing the dominant Malays silently in their hearts and mind, a curse that will reverberate as retribution of Karma eventually.

Lots of diseases are part of life. Doesn't mean we just expose our kids without taking precautions.

Either you have no schoolgoing kids in which case you are unqualified to make such a demand exposing children to danger...or you do have schoolgoing kids in which case you come across as simply an irresponsible parent

Don't forget the 2 most vulnerable groups are seniors and children.

Yes, covid is a fact of life for the near future. But there should be plans, precautions, and phased approach on how we reintegrate our kids back to school. Not just simply "open up the schools now" as what you demand.

Musa Aman is one of the finest men to walk the earth over perhaps the last 500 years. His compassion and philanthropy compare to none.

Wrongly accused by evil Nepali mountain climbers and Kiwi sheep herders, this martyr’s innocence is finally vindicated. It’s a great day for justice.

This bunch of anti-western propagandists just don't get it. The national security law is urgent and inevitable for China. US sanctions? Remember. China has already signaled clearly "Just bring it on"! It is a "new cold war", isn't it? US has more worthiness to preach moral values. The good samaritans is too glaring and tolerable nowadays.U.S just kick them hard!

The economic loss is minimal as compared to if the rioting continues for the longest time. The security law is to rescue hk from rioters and those masterminds behind it.
It so sad that young ignorant people are being used to stir unrest. The security law will catch up with the traitors? Ha ha its chinese vs chinese with open doors let wolves come in.....

1. The National Security Laws - approved by the Communists - come into effect in August.
2. Between now and August Trump will cripple Communist Party influence in North America and cripple trade with the CPC.
3. This will seriously hurt the Communists and they need hard currency from foreign trade to finance their big domestic and BRI projects.
4. Most likely Trump is going to make the November Presidential and Congressional elections all about Xi, the Communists, the PRC's trade practices, their spies throughout America, their oppression of Hong Kong and their enslavement designs on Taiwan.
5. If Trump wins in November (and I hope he does) then Xi and the Communists are going to find the years 2021-2015 to be destructive of their ambitions and their careers!
6. Glory to Hong Kong! Freedom for all!

GUys Does it matter the racial or religious make up of that City? This is the Democratic system, all individuals have one vote, irrespective of race or religion. That system doesn’t sound systemically racist at its core to me.
It was a challenge, a poor one...

GothicRock... I partial agree with what you are saying that it goes in all directions. But non-whites clearly get the short end of the stick. Just look in your Corporate and a financial sector. It is not equal opportunity no matter how you spin it. Ethnic minorities need to work twice as hard to climb the ladder. You talk about xenophobia acts in China as of late and I’m sure there are, but these acts are not a standard in society. I’ve lived in China before and foreigners if anything have more of a higher status than you make it sound. When a ethnic minority goes to the UK or any western society they are viewed second class citizens pretty much right from the get go.

It’s really surprising to see people of Hong Kong have not resisted Chinese actions. How does it help if Hong Kong becomes another Chinese city? Trump is right to remove the special status because HK is not independent. As regards to China, China really is a scared mouse in front of Trump. Trump started tariffs on China that left Chinese begging for a trade deal. There are still tariffs on Chinese goods. So far Chinese have muted reaction on other sanctions like Huawei, Student visa ban etc.

To be honest, BN & even Tun is a hypocrite condemning Israel for publicity & but behind the scenes, working/dealings at the back. Why not just have open legitimate dealings with Israel, after all they are very advanced in many fields & save us Malaysians this hypocrisy.

Kua's problem is that he is an armchair critic and does not know what is happening in the real world or on the ground. Or worse still he may have been coopted by financial institutions who back the Chinese government.

I suppose Kua Kia Soong has been schooled using the textbook ' Human Rights for Dodos'.
