Heard in some countries the rights (permits) to oilfields with proved probable and possible reserve are issued only to a certain depth per permit....we trust Kazagh is different...even if the Kazaghs practice the same...well they are only 2nd to Russia in O&G reserve ,I trust the probability of hitting the proved probable and possible quantities are high even only at a certain depth per permit...again putting HS in the equation .... when there is a probability on a probable outcome it is very possible
......my silly thoughts....entertainment ....

Personally @musashi 69 ,,,I was searching for the dumper from 60+ to 40.....meeting this few frens who happened to be top 30 investors, ,my observation and enquiries ...as far as I am concerned they were not dumping....the syndicates who play much larger volumes intra-day who do not have to pay brokers fee like a normal investor were creating the euphoric and entertaining volumes ....anybody who are more familiar about this arrangement in the brokerage business plse share....:)

Clearly if it is a win win scenario, there is a clear and quantifiable gain for a shareholder for handing his additional cash to the company (underwriters charge a hefty sum for fee remember?a bank would charge interest + fee on any loan)....but in the worst scenario ie when he is deprived of this financial gain by not being able to exercise his full three options because of something which he cannot be held accountable for eg he has the cash but there is no discount on MP ,as in the cases noted by Elle...then :
1)the shareholder loss his RIGHT to financial gain which could be calculated
2)he also has to suffer dilution to his existing shareholding thanks to the new shares which he is UNable to buy NOT because he has no money ..
I guess both deprived rights of a shareholder could be estimated .....
Since a shareholder cannot be held responsible for something which he is not accountable for....how come technically he ....with mathematical probability finds himself as a SHAREHOLDER willing to pay money ,in such a position....I rest my case...as the song goes....anyway just my silly thoughts and disclaimer applied. An investor has so many ways of looking at things so let's see.....

.....the new shares cost you 40sen,but they have a market value of 43sen+the value of the new warrant which cost you 0 sen....
2014-10-22 00:42 | Report Abuse
Say in ideal(win-win)....scenario..
1,000 existing shares at 45sen. RM450
500 new shares for cash at 40sen. RM200
Value of 1,500 shares RM650
Ex-rights value per share 43sen(RM650/1500shares)
So, in theory, as a result of the introduction of new shares at the "deeply "discounted price with the free warrant taken into account, the value of each of your existing shares will decline from 45sen to 43sen.But remember, the loss on your existing shareholding is offset exactly by the gain in share value on the new rights with the free warrant ...

Quote..."Defining a Rights Issue and Why It's Used
A rights issue is an invitation to existing shareholders to purchase additional new shares in the company. More specifically, this type of issue gives existing shareholders securities called "rights", which, well, give the shareholders the right to purchase new shares at a discount to the market price on a stated future date. The company is giving shareholders a chance to increase their exposure to the stock at a discount price."

Quote...."In estimating this dilution, remember that you can never know for certain the future value of your expanded holding of the shares, since it can be affected by any number of business and market factors. But the theoretical share price that will result after the rights issue is complete - which is the ex-rights share price - is possible to calculate. This price is found by dividing the total price you will have paid for all your shares by the total number of shares you will own."

@strategist...u mean to use that reserved money to buy more from open market after ex date?tq
2014-10-22 00:05 | Report Abuse
@DC, broadly we are looking at probabilities of events happening ...on basis of technicality also due to market conditions and external factors..to me these could be compounding upon each other..as a shareholder it is to our interest to look at both ..I might assume my remisier would handle only the technical part of it...tq

(1) to subscribe and pay more money if the rights are irresistible
What if the rights share price is not irresistible but the RI exercise can proceed...on technical basis
(2)to sell the rights to other shareholders or underwriters if you gain from it
(3)Ignore the rights and suffer dilution of shareholding ,thanks to the new shares...experience&opinions are welcomed...

@elle TQ,@strategist u are right technically the underwriters would have to canary the baby....but as a shareholder who has not been offered an attractive RI would be left with only the last of the THREE options...he HAS to..

@strategist ....since the purchase of BE aka Buzachi @RM850 m was derived from RI being 40sen ,anything below 40 sen RI would not be sufficient for that acquisition right?I agree they have to push up the MP....but the support level @40+ was broken (before the external factor of DJ correction)...I hope it's easier to push up than to keep that support level ....what do you think strategist from your observation and experience TQ

...technically speaking can the RI take place even if the share price remain below the RI indicative price ?(of course ideally the RI should be lower than the price of share in open market) ....the syndicated underwriters would have to 'shoulder' the unsubscribed Rights shares .....isnt that's the risk that they have undertaken when they underwrite this exercise on behalf of the issuers?
Looking at this interesting scenario (technically speaking)
while the shareholders has 3 the options:
.....the outcomes could be very Entertaining....
(1) to subscribe and pay more money if the rights are irresistible
