To be honest, based on my info from audit circle, they have verified the cash by getting bank confirmation directly from china bank. This is why I bought LAMBO now instead of XDL earlier. I prefer something I invest I can see the business.

The only issue is whether their biz is profitable or not

This share is same price as XOX now, you guys can try to invest into XOX to diverse your risk, I think XOX will spike by end of June as they secure a huge 30% private placement . XOX has already reported 2020Q1 results already, made accounting loss and high revenue growth but positive operating cashflow.

I will still need to evaluate XDL 2020Q1 since their sales are 90% in HK and PRC. Jan to Mar 2020 should be bath blood, I worry it will affect the share price for some time, so retract my investment temporarily until see audit report and 2020Q1.

UMW is one of the few blue chip stocks still can rise up to get 75% to 100% share price appreciation, on top of usual dividends. During financial crisis, people will opt for cheaper cars ie perodua and Toyota :)

I think it is not opening or lockdown, it is about how much more losses will be incurred in the few months. Obviously Q2 will bath blood, but definitely Q3 and Q4 will be loss making position as no more oversea tourists and people tend to stay away from crowd at the moment. Casino capacity will be significantly reduced.

Whilst I understand there are many investors here eager to make money by calling others to join the buy, but our retail power is pretty much limited, the big funds will stay away until business volume and economy recovers.

Current price has not account for Q2 approximately RM600 to 800M in net losses, I doubt share price will go up beyond 4.80 in short term. I bought at 3.80 anyway. I plan to hold 2 years in view of this "great lockdown crisis"

We have to feed public with correct information so that it is not misleading.

In view of the devastating impact of Covid-19 on the tourism and entertainment industry, PublicInvest Research said earnings recovery for Genting Malaysia may take time as the research house expects the company’s operations may not fully return to normalcy even in the financial year ending Dec 31, 2021 (FY21).

“Even if casinos and other tourist attractions are allowed to operate once the lockdowns are eventually lifted, we believe restrictions will be enforced with limitation to operating capacity in order to foster compliance with social distancing guidelines. We opine that these restrictions will continue beyond 2020,” said PublicInvest Research in a note dated May 22.

The research house said the headwinds would persist due to the limitation to operating at full capacity compounded with the impact of economic fallout on consumer sentiment and delays in opening the theme park to end 2021, from second half 2020.

It now anticipated the company to generate an annual net loss of RM392.9 million for FY21, and returned to the black with a net profit forecast of RM723 million for FY21 and RM1.32 billion for FY22.

At 11.15am, Genting Malaysia's share price rose seven sen or 2.69% to RM2.67 for a market capitalisation of RM14.7 billion. The stock saw some 7.35 million shares traded. The stock has recovered 46% from its recent low of RM1.83 on March 23.

Affin Hwang maintained a "buy" call on UMW Holdings with RM4.10 target price.

"We believe valuation is attractive, in view of the new volume-generative Toyota model line-ups, modest growth from its two core segments (automotive and manufacturing), and higher Perodua associate contribution," he added.

MIDF Research analyst Hafriz Hezry said the mechanical and electrical division was a bright spot and a growth area for UMW Holdings.

"UMW aerospace in particular, saw earnings turnaround a year earlier, given higher volumes for fan cases and cost optimisation (improved learning curve and employee capability, efficient utility cost management, reduction in expatriate staff and efficiency in material sourcing)," he said.

He said the group's cost optimisation exercise this year with a two-pronged involving a variable component (efforts on component cost, logistics cost and productivity improvement) and a fixed cost component) would tackle non-strategic spending such as promotional expenses and operating expenditure.

"Cost optimisation effort is expected to contribute to "a few hundred million" in savings for the group," he added.

MIDF Research maintained a "buy" call for UMW Holdings with a target price of RM3.40.

This was due to a turnaround in group earnings mainly driven by the automotive division and commencement of Trent 7000 engine assembly in the fourth-quarter this year.

The risks to the firm's call include a second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and a weaker than expected demand recovery.

It is not possible to get 2.50, I think 3.80 to 4.00 is a very likely possibility. If they open, they wont get business, they will burn more cash to operate it, news has shown the figures. If that is so, I rather they don't open it temporarily because it exhausts their cash faster. I see many businesses are down now, businessmen still have so much cash to burn on gaming tables meh? Recently I saw a clip video about Marina Bay singapore casino, it has only less than 5 customers huhu.

Another holding factor is current genting investors (included me at 3.80) are pretty depending on LimKokthay on share buyback as evidenced by the past 3 weeks, he pushed 3.80 to 4.0 and another big batch mass purchase to push it to 4.40. If I were him, i rather let share price drop to 3.50 to 4.00 then buy cheaper price.

We need to be prepared to hold this share in longer term says minimum 3 months down the road ba.

Haha that's the only concern of buying into this share, that's why I stay away a while until audit report is out in view that they changed auditors due to Auditor is suspended by Bursa. Nevertheless I am just being cautious, this Company XDL has been in Bursa for many years without issues.

The only big problem is their peers in the same Jinjiang Fujian province went for sudden bankruptcy in the past few years, big names went burst are XingQuan, Maxwell, and Msports, all are doing the same business. Based on my search, there are 5000 to 6000 apparel makers in the JinJiang province thou, so 3 bankruptcy seems not so serious.

Again no risk no big gain, it is really up to investor risk appetite. At the moment, I go for Lambo first because i prefer something i saw in Malaysia, ie the Lambo delivery drivers hahahaha

Lost RM4M daily, equivalents to RM120M RM120M monthly for just Malaysia. Reopening saw 90% drop in business volume, suggest to invest properties and automotive stocks first, later come back to Chiong genting in late July after gathering more firepower profits to put into genting for long term. Short term definitely to capitalise active stocks now.

I will reenter at my holding cost of 3.80, dont quite convince by above 4.00 at the moment

Reopening doesn’t mean business-as-usual for Genting

While the reopening of casinos may mean something good, this does not mean that the volume or customer traffic — especially the VIPs — will be back to how it used to be prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, said an analyst, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“Most of the businesses were hit, so I expect VIP volume to drop. And even when the casino opens one day, business may not come back immediately. It will take one or two years,” the analyst said.

“So, if you talk about earnings outlook, it is still negative,” the analyst said, adding he forecasts both Genting and GenM to register losses this year.

In Macau, while casinos were reopened in March, gaming volume for both the months of April and May are down by more than 90%.

The analyst noted that the 1Q20 results were “considered very bad” and were a “negative surprise” for him as he was expecting a positive figure, given that the Covid-19 outbreak was not deemed very serious yet during the Chinese New Year period and that Malaysia had only implemented the MCO on March 18.

He noted that the GenM management had said it was burning RM4 million daily since the closure of its casino.

The risk, the analyst said, is that there could be a second wave of Covid-19 outbreak which will hit consumers’ confidence.

Thus, as the research firm also believes there will be a correction in the market, he advises investors to not trade on the stocks for now, as there will be investment risk in 2Q20, noting that the market should see a rebound in 4Q20.

For those do not heed my advice earlier, today proven that 4.95 surge was just a misunderstanding on the genting opening. Once Q3 is out, guarantee a lot of people throw like mad, such a huge group has no revenue for close to 6 months will affect PE, ROE and BV significantly.

Two persons said I'm racist. Sorry i must say you two dont really understand genting. I have been close to genting management in younger days due to work. The greatest risk identified for Genting group in early 2000 is political risk unfortunately, especially in 1999 where Anwar get sacked and PAS became super strong, you guys can ask experienced corporate personnel. This was the main reason of setting up star cruise so they bring people to international water for gambling purpose. They have already prepared for the eventuality if it happens.

Genting Casino is looking to close sites and make job losses
Gambling firm Genting Casino is considering closing three of its outlets with job losses across its remaining 29 sites across the UK, union bosses say.

The company has written to workers outlining its plans as it battles losses caused by having to shut its sites during the coronavirus lockdown.

It is understood three casinos – in Torquay, Bristol and possibly in Margate – are potentially to close permanently, and an undisclosed number of jobs will be lost across all the business’ 32 venues.

The workers are being represented by GMB, the union for leisure and hospitality workers, which has warned that proposals to close the three casinos are “just the start” for the nation’s leisure and hospitality sector, which is at breaking point.

Another logic is substantial shareholders do not block their takeover of 30%, this also shows this potential 30% shareholders will contribute mutual values to XOX. If you own a company, people wants to buy 30% stake, it shows this person is highly convinced of the future ba.

I read this XOX private placement, the placement share price will be average of 5-days share price for a post determinate period. I guess this explains these few days drop, they want to drive it down so they dont have to pay a lot for 30% stake.

Who is on earth would want to throw so much money on 30% XOX shareholdings if they are not convinced of its future. I believe future will be super bright and should sky rocket.

Also based on the above, they cannot buy more than 33% because it is an mandatory takeover. I believe this investor must be someone has known XOX future so invested so much to get 30% stake.

Persons acting in concert
Persons acting in concert are persons who, pursuant to an agreement, arrangement or understanding co-operate to:

This is very much a factual test and the Code sets out the criteria the SC will take into account when deciding whether a person is acting in concert.  a company, the directors of the company, and the shareholders of the company where there is an agreement, arrangement or understanding between the company or directors of the company, and shareholder of the company which restricts the director or the shareholder from offering or accepting a takeover offer for the voting shares or voting rights of the company or increasing or reducing his shareholdings in the company; and
 a person who is a partner of a partnership.
The associate corporation relationship is established if the corporation holds at least 20% of the voting shares.

Some important percentage thresholds
 5% - substantial shareholding level which requires the holder to disclose its substantial shareholding to the company, the SC and the stock exchange. Any change in interest and cessation of substantial shareholding is also required to be disclosed;
 over 10% - the holder may block compulsory acquisition;
