I usually buy company at discounted NTA, good recurring EPS and dividend, potential to grow, like MMC. here is special I just try with little spare money, less than what I earned from MMC, because if the scandal cleared, fundamental proved valid, it would be a huge instant profit at this entry price. if the scandal is true, then how much net asset the company has left? it can't be more wrong than buying this company at twice it NTA, sorry to those who are misfortune in this case, but in general I am really against buying any company at above NTA price, let alone at negative NTA

This company making good earning for many years, same auditor passed their QR for many years, giving dividend consistently (at current price it is more than 8% DY). This company has worthy net assets. what funny is people rather invest on AA company with negative net asset, has hard time to recover from losses to pay it's debt even after the pandemic ended

definitely not a counter we should go all in, but collect a little of the share people throw in panic, which little spare cash, why not, every opportunity is in the disguise of panic, when is the best time to earn money, if not during panic sell huge discount. whenever there is oppotunity, of course there is also risk, just need to do risk management.

if continue to trade at this price level, which is about 10% premium, I rather just wait for the exercise of the privatization, where I can get at least RM2, and also save some brokerage fee for selling the share manually (the is no service charge to receive privatization payment like receive dividend if I am not mistaken)

all I can say for sure is this is not the boss fault, it is the market's fault, the whole open market, you and I included. for depreciating the company value. imagine if you are the boss, you hold 51% of the company share, but the open market don't appreciate it's true value, investors are reluctant to buy at higher price, although many claims that it's price should be higher. what will you do? will you offer the open market at the price that it should worth? or offer at lower discount?

let say if the stock is trading at RM3 above now, do you think the boss will propose privatization?

and this is actually not a bad thing that the market will under appreciate some stock at the market. value investors make profit by buying at undervalue price, sell back at higher price when people start to value the company. in this case, the boss himself behtahan already his company being underappreciated.

okay so what about those who buy at RM2 or above? all I can say is those are the victims of the market unable to appreciate the true value of this company. sometime even the best investors like warran buffett lose money. but if you are really that good, overall you will still benefit from stock market by making more money in the other stock. if not, you are not that good anyway, or simply has terrible luck. bare in mind that stock investment is never deemed to be riskless.

for all those making money here, congratulation. I am not saying that you should not be greedy to hope for price revise from the boss, everyone invest in stock market should be greedy, but just don't blame everything on the boss, blame the market if you don't get what you hope for

@CHLEONG888 just my own thought, retailers I don't think will buy above RM2.00 for sure. Cooperator / individual that have fund might try to secure significant % of the company share to bargain with MMC for better privatization price. Or MMC boss himself trying to offer slight above or exactly RM2.00 to those who are willing to take his offer early, so that he would have more % before the voting EGM to pass the 10% rejection requirement.

But these situation are still very unlikely imo, most probably will trade below RM2, premium for those willing to take risk and early exit for the rest.

after MMC is gone, SURIA is the only port listed company left that is traded below half of it's NTA (RM3.22), current price is still yet to up, sitting at the level of RM1.00 to RM1.04.
Please tell me if there is another port company other than SURIA that is also traded at deep below NTA, which I might have missed.

while SURIA's TEU is not at the level of MMC's, SURIA is better than MMC in term of being debt free, it's total liabilities is very low, very insignificant financial cost is taken away from it's profit every QR.

SURIA is owned 51% by Sabah GOV. While is still good chance of privatization. The chance of it faces serba alike issue which is caused by fraud of an individual major shareholder is very unlikely.

SURIA is underperforming for the past year. Although it is allowed to operated during lockdown / mco. It is still indirectly affected by MCO due to lower local demand for it's services (refer to it's QR explanation). It's EPS is expected to return to it's previous level as herd immunity can be archived soon to end covid and consistent global growth in port business.

hopefully port lovers and value investors here will also appreciate SURIA, just like MMC
