生活補貼中國禁「洋垃圾」 英國塑廢堆積如山

英國回收業者現在叫苦連天，因為中國現在禁止進口「洋垃圾」，英國得自己處理大量塑膠廢棄物。英國回收協會表示，當地目前沒有足夠能力解決大量垃圾，不知該如何應對。
英國廣播公司（ BBC）報導，英國每年運送約50萬噸塑廢料到中國，但該項垃圾貿易已隨2018年到來嘎然而止。
回收協會首席執行員艾林表示，「這對我們來說是一大打擊，也是這個行業重要轉折點。」
艾林表示，英國廢棄物中有55%的紙類，以及22%的塑膠類。長期依賴中國進口垃圾結果，導致英國根本沒有如此大回收市場。
部份亞洲國家可能有意願進口英國塑廢料，但仍不足以解決英國國內塑膠垃圾問題。
塑廢料回收促進組織「Recoup」提到，禁令造成大量塑膠垃圾無處堆放，若就地掩埋、焚燒恐汙染英國環境生態。
英國環境大臣戈夫坦承，對於中國「洋垃圾」禁令所產生衝擊反應過慢。英國地方政府協會的弗萊明則表示，焚化部份垃圾勢在必行，但並非所有地區都有焚化爐。
以長期來說，英國需要更聰明的廢棄物處理策略。
