Downgrade to HOLD; TP cut to MYR0.27
Results aside, Perisai prudently impaired its rigs, MOPU and E3 assets to reflect current challenging conditions. This exercise will save Perisai about MYR15m-MYR30m in depreciation p.a.. While we upgrade earnings, we downgrade Perisai to a HOLD for much of the positives have been priced in following the 15% rise in share price recently. Our TP is based on a revised 1x EV/replacement value.

FY15 core results above; MYR725m impairment
Headline net loss of MYR725m in 4Q15 was due to a substantial MYR725m exceptional loss, which mainly comprised two items: (i) a MYR689m impairment on assets (rigs and MOPU) and (ii) MYR36m impairment on its 50%-owned E3 barge. Stripping that off, Perisai returned to the black with a reported core net profit of MYR0.2m in 4Q15 (vs. –MYR0.3m in 3Q15). This took FY15 core profit to MYR3m (-73% YoY), ahead of our MYR2m estimate.

Marine ops & associate offset losses at rigs & MOPU
The better-than-expected 4Q15 core performance was mainly due to lower corporate expenses. Operationally, its marine vessels unit and associate (50%-owned FPSO ops) continued to be Perisai’s key earnings drivers, buffering losses at its drilling and MOPU operations.

Upgrade earnings; expects delays on 2 new rigs
Our 119%/24% upgrade in FY16/17 earnings is premised largely on the: (i) depreciation savings from the impairment of its assets (MYR15m-30m p.a.) and (ii) deferment of its 2 incoming jack-up rigs (Pacific 102 & 103) to 2019 (from 2016-17) as it aims to conserve cashflow and manage capital. Operationally, we expect positive contracts newsflow on its MOPU and E3 operations by 1H16. These 2 assets, off-hire since 3Q14, have been a drag to Group’s earnings. Share price has performed well, up 15% since we upgraded Perisai to a Trading Buy a month ago. With minimal catalyst in sight, we now downgrade Perisai to a HOLD.
