Iris Corp can sue US government for e-passport infringement

Iris Corp Bhd was told that it can sue the US government for Japan Airlines Corp's (JAL) use of its electronic passport patent. In an announcement yesterday, Iris said the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit had on Oct 21 gave its decision and ruled that ICB "must sue the Federal Government under Section 28 U.S.C. 1498 for JAL's use of its patent as part of JAL's routine commercial operations at airports throughout the US." The three panel judge affirmed that there was an infringement of the US Patent 6,111,506 owned by Iris. (Sun)

Dato disposed some 18m shares last wk & the price still not much affected. Meaning this counter quite steady! :) From tomorrow onwards, without anymore huge disposals - hopefully the price will finally rocket up!

Najib: Full statement on nation's economy next week


KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will issue a full statement next week on the country's economic situation.

"I will come out with a statement next week," he told reporters in response to a question on the economy, budget and fiscal targets in view of declining global oil prices and floods that hit the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

The ministry has proposed the waiving of visa charges for tourists from China, in conjunction with the Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 (MyFest 2015).

Mohamed Nazri said the move, pending Cabinet approval, is to help achieve the MyFest 2015 target of tourism revenue totalling RM89 billion.

"I haven't announced it yet because we still need confirmation from the Cabinet," he said, adding that the industry is targeting more China tourists during the Chinese New Year season after the visa waiver.
