經濟參考報今天報道，中國傳統百貨業出現的關店潮已在多地零零散散地發生，二、三線市場還不嚴重，東部沿海城市由於市場競爭相對激烈，發生頻率更高。
中國知名的王府井百貨已感受到涼意，第1季營收年減4.9%。繼2014年7月關閉廣東省湛江門市後，王府井也把湖南省株洲分公司股權全數轉讓，戰線不斷收縮。
電子商務衝擊是讓傳統百貨業走下坡的主因之一。中國國民經濟研究所長樊綱說，網購選購方便、價格親民、產品豐富，為購物提供全新體驗，這些都是傳統百貨業難以企及的。
北京富基融通科技公司董事長顏艷春認為，傳統百貨業專注用實體店面和淘寶、京東等電商業者抗衡，是拿自己的弱項硬拚別人的長處。
另一原因則是傳統百貨業同質化競爭加劇。北京朗姿服飾公司品牌管理中心總經理王國祥表示，中國很多商場裡的品牌都差不多，去哪家都一樣，有點“千店一面”。
報道引述專家說法指出，百貨熄燈恐引發房租拖欠問題，長期也可能對上游供應鏈帶來連鎖效應。中國各地政府應瞭解當地百貨業的發展狀況，劃分面臨關店風險的等級，及早因應。
專家建議，中國地方政府對經營不錯但資金緊繃的百貨業者可適當支持，對可能引發商業合約糾紛的提前介入。此外，還應妥善處理會員卡、預售卡等，避免百貨關店傷及顧客。
