last year some anylyst said gold to be 2300 by 2024. Bank of America forecasted 2500 by 2025. Not many analyst point out that gold was included as the other Tier 1 asset in 2020 by Bank of International Settlement. Come 2020 US and the West sanctioned Russia and freeze its USD holdings and some other assets and banned it from using USD to trade and discontinued Russia access to SWIFT< which is a international settlement system worldwide but controlled by US. So called analyst did some quick reading and jumble up some very valid reasons for gold to go up.

Gold is going parabolic and moved into "price discovery" phase, meaning nobody can predict accurately the top for gold. It is a open question. Especially with the geopolitical tension created by the West worldwide.

The other elephant in the room is the continual printing of money by US. Increasing its debt by 1 trillion every 100 days a few nonths ago. Now I read it is 1t every 90 days. Scary at it is, it is also exporting inflation worldwide. Inflation is here to stay until US goes kaput. If not it will try to bring the world down. BRICS and other nations know too well what is going on. Connect the dots and see the big picture and things are better left unsaid because it is difficult to explain in a few words.

Actually, the timing of sales is not known to us or announced publicly. Not too sure if they read correctly the market timing. In any case, they will be screwed if price were to fall. The knife cuts both way. For sure they sell into the spot market price. As for selling timing, I hope they know better.

Prior to 2020, only Tier 1 asset, recognise by Bank of International Settlement (BIS) which is the Central Bank of all nations Central Bank (our BNM included) was USD. Gold was included in 2020. Meaning accepting gold as a reserve for a coumtry assets.

Pls allow me to posit my 2 sens worth of thoughts here:
1 Gold mining stocks and gold stocks are not in the radar of investment funds managers and total gold holding by funds, ranges between .03 to .05 % of their funds currently. dont know when these funds will come in. But when they put in only 5% into gold investment in this cyclical bull (I believe its coming, becoz of high inflation exported by extremely excessive money printing and geopolitical tension, where the hagemon will go down fighting, which mean uncertainties until hagemon kaput. ) And even if US which maintaining high interest to suck in money into US and at the same manipulating currency to earn quick bucks, the spectre of high inflationary in US, couple with gross mismanagement will not do US any good. Not to mention dedollarisation working in progress. The gold price will explode.
2Note that spot price is now above USD2500, may fluctuate but is breaking resisistant after resistant even b4 Fed reduction of interest rate.
3 some may not like that the inventory of 25m as a policy decision. The business of gold mining is not trading in gold like goldsmith shops. Selling it for cash is not bad idea but stocking cash for productive purposes will be better. However stocking gold may even be better in a gold bull run. Imaging selling them with better pricing later on. Cash do not get better returns in the low interest environment.
4 Gold mining stocks worldwide is not a hot item now. Some think the cost of production was impacted by inflation. But bahvest seems to produce better results after the new management. Perhaps this is why Bahvest did not shoot up after the qtr better result. Perhaps patience is the name of the game for now. Of course I was waiting to cash out some when the qtr result was annoumce. It was a big disappointment.

kk7198, possible with higher gold prices in Nov and Dec but not in Oct. is there inflationary pressure in the cost of production? $20m is not my main concern as I think gold and silver prices will go up much higher, little by little, until shorties are wipe out and the continual USD money printing creating and exporting inflation worldwide. to me its more about inflation hedging. But then of course, higher output is added bonus. Jan 2024 to Mar qtr results shud be much better in comparison to impending qtr report.

My guess is South sea license was revoked in Nov after it was found they cheated on the actual output and Bahvest may have applied for the licence in Nov, Is pending approval?

silver has yet to shoot up. its a matter of time as silver is both an investment and industrial metal. Gold is now a tier 1 asset, in 2020, I think, under Bank of International Settlement or BIS for short, which is the Central Bank of all countries National Bank like our Bank Negara Malaysia. Previously, only USD is classified as Tier 1 asset.

As it is Gold and Silver have been manipulated by West issuance of paper certificates to short and buy. China had 2 banks, one is ICBC and another, I cannot recall name, were members of the the LBMA OR LME ( uncertain of which) but withdrawn as member because of all these manipulation. Hence one of the reasons for the formation of Shanghai Gold Exchange, SGX is still using USD as reference. But for how long, we dont know.

My guess is that the West also see the end of USD and hence set up cryptocurrency, which is different from CBDC to take the shine off gold and silver. To me, cryptocurrency is a cyberspace asset. Gold and silver are tangible and usable.
