Malaysia Airlines Q4E

Operating profit: -$56.272m
Profit after Tax: -$341.822m

The Group's operating revenue is comparable to the preceding quarter despite increase in capacity. However, total operating expenditure increased slightly by 3% to RM3,782.1 million in line with the increase capacity of 3%. Fuel cost was higher by 1% and non-fuel cost higher by 4% over the preceding quarter.

Included in the quarter loss was depreciation, amortisation and impairment of RM172.7 million, unrealised foreign exchange loss of RM18.7 million and finance cost of RM105.1 million.

So folks, dare to believe that Airasia Q4E will be fair better than MAS? Hmmmmmmmm...!!!!!!!!!

Air Asia C3

Mother share price: $2.36
Exercise Price: $2.538
Maturity date: 28/02/2014
Conversion Ratio: 2.8201 for 1

A structured warrant is issued by a third party financial institution. You can buy the share you want at a fraction of its cost by purchasing a warrant. Like shares, warrants are listed on the exchange. However, their price movement is linked to movements in the price of the underlying share and may reflect magnified gains or losses.

Nevertheless, as we get closer to expiry the uncertainty falls, and the time value decays. Technicallythis is also referred to as the “theta”, the rate at which a warrant loses value as time passes.

Timedecay is not constant, and speeds up towards the end of the warrant’s life. For this reason, one mustbe wary of trading an out-of-money warrant that is approaching its expiry. Just by holding the warrant over a few days, one can lose money because of time decay.

So folks, dead end ahead for C3! Heheheheh!!

Wakakakakaka.....just wait & see, bullshtnone. AA will hits record high on revenue of plus minus $1.45b ($1.28b 3Q) while the Operating Profit plus minus $450m ($291m 3Q) for the coming 4QE.

The big question: will the 4Q "Profit after Tax" be dragged down like in the 3Q by the "Finance Costs" & "Foreign Exchange Losses on Borrowings" (3Q PAT: $35.5 million)?

Well folks, I do believe the coming 4Q PAT will be better than the 3Q13.

Hahahahah....... HJey, the good news for 4Q:

(i) "Revenue" will hits record high.
(ii) "Operating Profit" will also touch record high (plus minus $400m). 3Q "OP" was at $291m.

Now the big question: will the 4Q "Profit after Tax" be dragged down again by the "Finance Costs" & "Foreign Exchange Losses on Borrowings" like what happenned in the 3Q (PAT: $35.5 million)?

Going forward into the 4Q, AA has taken action to reduce exposure as below:

(i) Forward Foreign Exchange Contracts
As at 30 September 2013, AirAsia Berhad has hedged approximately 52% of its dollar liabilities of its aircraft and engine loans into Malaysian Ringgit (“MYR”) by using long dated foreign exchange forward contracts. The latest weighted average forward exchange rate of USD/MYR is 3.2238.

(ii) Interest Rate Hedging
As at 30 September 2013, the Group has entered interest rate hedging transactions to hedge against fluctuations in the USD Libor on its existing and future aircraft financing for aircraft deliveries from 2005 up to 2013.

Will the management action translate to better profit? Only time will tell! Heheheheheheh!!

Hopeful of launching flights in India in next two-three months, Air Asia chief Tony Fernandes said the airline would introduce ‘dramatically’ low fares in the country, which would be cheapest and take air travel to masses.

AirAsia India is fully prepared for the launch and is waiting for final approvals that should come soon and help it begin flights by March-April this year.

“I think we are coming very close and March-April should be time when we should begin the India operations,” the Malaysia-based AirAsia’s CEO said.

As highlighted in our 2014 Aviation Outlook report (dated 10 Jan 2014), airlines’ yield environment is expected to remain depress in 2014, mainly due to:

Hong Leong Investment Bank Research

1. Dampened domestic demand for air travel due to increasing cost of living and negative sentiments, as government continued subsidies cut and GST implementation in 2015.

2. Continued strong capacity growth of domestic airlines.

3. Airlines’ strategy to capture market share, through load active-yield passive strategy (offer low ticket prices to increase load factor).

VMY 2014 may boost tourist arrivals, but domestic airlines are unlikely to fully benefit from VMY 2014, as tourists prefer to travel with their own country-based airlines.

The airlines are still facing high jet fuel cost (60% of AirAsia’s operational cost) and depreciation of RM/US$, which will affect their margins in 2014.

AirAsia: Maintained Hold with unchanged TP: RM2.45! So will the 4QE be good, bad or urgly, folks? Heheheheh!!

Yesterday, the stock tumbled. Today it falls further. At the time of writing this post, XDL is trading at RM0.305. The reason for the drop: New shares will be quoted on January 27 and increasing the number of shares issued by 58%. Would the share price stabilize at the theoretical ex-right value would be RM0.3213? It is highly unlikely as a falling stock tends to overshoot on the downside. PATIENCE WEARING THIN: Caterham boss wants his team to be more competitive or he walks!

CATERHAM owner Tan Sri Tony Fernandes warned on Tuesday that he could walk away from Formula One unless his tail-end team showed significant improvement this season.

The Malaysian entrepreneur, who also runs Queens Park Rangers football club and the AirAsia airline, told reporters at the Caterham factory that there would be no point carrying on if the team remained uncompetitive.

Last year, Caterham finished last of the 11 Formula One teams while QPR were relegated from the Premier League.

Fernandes compared Formula One unfavourably to football, saying it was too predictable, too expensive, not exciting enough and with insufficient chances for underdogs to create an upset.

Fernandes said however that his words were not to be taken as an ultimatum and he was making a statement of intent because he believed Caterham would make the required progress at a time of huge technical change.

Asked whether he could also walk away from QPR if they failed to secure a quick return to the Premier League from the Championship (second tier), he shook his head. "No, because we are making progress. Even if we don't go up this season, we have made good progress.

"We have got to see progress. It's the same for AirAsia. If AirAsia was still a two plane operation and losing tons of money every year, you'd have to say 'Er, what's the point of carrying on guys?'" - Reuters

Yes you are right, Tony! Investors also want to see progress in Airasia share price! How? Hahahahahahahah!!
