Sikung 119, with due respect … I think derivative trading is a highly sophisticated game..my savvy friends with hi tech equipments & real time market info(if not in advance) sources make big money trading on the equity futures ... big & well connected institutions have got these advantages & they could also do hedging against other positions. So if you are well positioned in this game, I wd agree that the odds are better than casino.. But for layman.. . susah la…:))

Juz to prove a point, I once arbitraged btw KLCI futures & cash indices(the gap closes end of the month) by buying a certain number of CI stocks(not less than 50 stocks) & short the futures, when volatility existed & gap was big enuf. We did hit jackpot(20%+ return) when the gap was more than 100 points (when the DPM was arrested & currency crisis) but very tedious work in buying the stocks & squaring off later,without sophisticated technology.. Then when the bull market set in….. easier to buy stocks la….so it is not really casino kind of thing….TQ

lost a lot of money in playing call/put options on DJ those days…. scared scared …meant more for razor sharp pple like Raptor….:))

Yes it sounds very logical that it is almost impossible to get all the Opec & non-Opec countries like Russia & Iraq to come into a concerted effort to cut production.But I read somewhere today some views that some key Opec countries may participate in the cut while the rest need not join in…… but in the end the effect could be questionable… and it says oil prices may still be under pressure, however, Brent should not hit below usd70 .. juz to share this info….have to declare this is not personal view :))

there is always the surprise element….. a billion dollar issue….but if a half-hearted cutback in SS, may just mean higher low price, no? :))
