SINGAPORE: Capital A Bhd, parent of Malaysian budget airline AirAsia, expects to see the carrier's operations returning to pre-pandemic levels by December, Capital A CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes told Reuters on Monday.
The target indicates a slight delay from his earlier forecast of putting all 204 of its fleet back in service by August.
Kuala Lumpur-based Capital A, which owns AirAsia, is "very bullish about the Indian market" and wants to bring in more tourists to that country, with additional seat capacity.

Which was revised in accordance with decisions made by a conference of creditors on 7 July 2023.
Following this decision, CapitalA Bhd, is now again ready to pursue continual earnings growth.
As part of its expansion plan, it will be adding full aircrafts by year end, opening new routes to increase cash flow and revenue, and efficiently managing its Debt to Equity/Capital.

Capital A expects to increase its fleet by nineteen A320s this year and return all remaining parked planes to service by August, according to Tony Fernandes, group CEO, has said.

“We have already signed up 19 aircraft, and are negotiating for more," Fernandes told media at the Paris Air Show. "AirAsia also expects to have all 204 of its aircraft reactivated by the end of August this year, and achieve 100% of pre-pandemic capacity in the coming months."
