IT DNex contracts for semiconductor acquisition of Siltera


Information technology (IT) service provider Dagan Next Change (DNex) signed a stock sales contract on March 31 with the acquisition of semiconductor foundry (contract manufacturing company) Siltera Malaysia. Through joint investment with a private semiconductor fund in China, it will purchase shares from government-affiliated investment company Khazanah National for 273 million ringgit (about 7.28 billion yen). After the acquisition, the facility will be renewed with additional capital injection to achieve an early recovery in business performance.

　DNex invested RM163.8 million to acquire a 60% stake. The remaining 40% will be invested by China's CGP Investment. The two companies also plan to undertake a capital increase in Siltera and invest a total of 200 million ringgit. We will promote equipment upgrades to raise production efficiency and expand production capacity.

　With the shortage of semiconductors becoming a problem worldwide, after the acquisition, we will focus on cultivating new customers and increase the operating rate of the factory. In addition, we would like to focus on research and development (R & D) in collaboration with government-affiliated organizations and raise our technological capabilities. Accelerate entry into new fields such as power semiconductors and products for the IoT (Internet of Things).

　Siltera was founded in 1995. Set up a factory in Kulim, Kedah. In 2019, sales were MYR 396.51 million and profit or loss after tax was RM172.14 million. As the business performance continued to be sluggish, the amount of insolvency had risen to MYR 574.58 million at the end of the same year. Several domestic and foreign companies have given their names to the sale bid conducted by Kazana.
