What are your favorite podcasts for market info?
Specifically, Bursa/ Malaysia.
For me it's
1. BFM- I know, most of the info isn't about the market, but it is really helpful to me as a foreigner.
2. FIRL- I like some of the stock pitches and again good Malaysia-specific info
3. A1 Good Investing*- info on companies nobody else covers. Although the host is a bit annoying and boring
I would love any suggestions of other podcasts or YouTube channels that pitch stocks and generally present info about the economy. I wish there were more people talking about this market. I do my best to encourage people to take a look at the opportunities here, I'm very bullish on Malaysia over the next decade.

Very interesting. Some very valuable businesses, and Mr.Tan has the patience and experience to make the most of them. Looks complicated at first but I bet he's aware of all the moving pieces and it's a lot simpler than it looks. A lot of my optimism is based on his capital allocation, treating the businesses like assets and trading them effectively, but like i say, that comes with some downside (failure to run the businesses with consistent excellence). I hope I am not missing a cultural element; I do not know what the average malaysian thinks of starbucks, or sportstoto, or cosway. I just assume that they feel similar to how I feel. Most of the time, people are the same everywhere.

would the MCO truly have cut sales so much? i mean, they're not a retail business.

Awesome info, thanks. They look like a high-quality business. I assume they have to work pretty hard to keep their tier 1 customers happy, and it's paid off for them, but hopefully they can find the capacity to direct their energy into more diverse sources of revenue. Their experience in catering to the needs of these coffee makers should prove very valuable if they can find other businesses to supply.

Thanks for that simon2020 I will have a deeper look at that. I really like hospitality going forward. I'm long "real world" and short "metaverse".

I'm trying to learn how 7-eleven/premier merchandise/ berjaya retail are connected to berjaya corp BGRO, what percent of 7-eleven earnings go to BGRO, it's very complicated. Looks like various subsidiaries have a few percent interest here and there with Vincent Tan owning a good 30% or so, therefor there is a controlling interest. Does anyone have any insight on this? How do I categorize 7-eleven earnings in my report? Marketing of consumer goods right?

I haven't looked at other packaging companies, my method is to find the most stable, long term growth stories. Very basic, but if I can find a 30-year stock chart that just goes from bottom left to top right, I look hard at the company.
I will be sure to post if I look more deeply at the packaging industry, but right now I'm not certain of PPAsia's specific advantage. Definitely a worthwhile area of future study.

Thanks for that information. I had no idea; it looks like the report was quite impactful. It is not a very honest way of doing business, although from what I understand the money was still earned under the airasia brand and transferred to the group in an unconventional way. It appears to no longer be an issue for the last few years, and may further explain the group's pivot to digital, seeking those high returns, since they have failed to turn a good profit since they stopped making those leases.
I really appreciate your reply and I'll be sure to dive a bit further back on my quality of earnings evaluation- I had only looked at the recent years, but I obviously need to evaluate the years that they were performing the best if I want to assert that they may do so again.
Thankyou again!

Good day for a starter position.. if success keeps running that's fine, if not then accumulate. Fundamentals on this stock are acceptable. Price is satisfactory. That puts it very high on the list.

I understand those who mistrust the west- in the past, Malaysia has been mistreated. But this war is completely the doing of Putin. Nobody forced him to do anything. NATO is a defensive organisation- nobody was ever going to invade Russia. Ukraine, and other nations, want to join to be protected from forces who would murder their people. Malaysia should be firmly on the side of peace- the side that protects one another, and who is not trying to take things away from others. As an investor in Malaysia, I know that your country will rise to become like Australia, Hong Kong, Sweden, Singapore, and all of the other strong and peaceful nations. Malaysia is a better country than Russia will ever be.
