The bulk purchase price of nasal swab is about usd 0.15 to 0.20 per stick depend on specification . China is offering much lower than these. Too much competitiion for these market segmentation.

rapid antibody (covid 19) test kits need finger. Not nasal swab... Pls dont be childish...

The rapid test kit already come with the swab why do they need to buy nasal swab..again? . Pls check the specification of nasal swab produced by K1. Do you know there are many type of nasal swabs? you can call or write to them.. If you have ever sent your workers for the test. You will know what you are talking about...

Rapid test kit already came with the swab..in the box.. The nasal swab used in RT-PCR is different type. Pls check...

RT PCR test is time consuming and too expensive for our country.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — Malaysians returning from overseas will have to pay a range of RM30 to RM150 to be tested for Covid-19 upon entering the country from today onwards, while non-citizens will pay higher fees depending on the type of tests conducted, new rules issued by the government said.

The new regulations published on June 26 and taking effect from today is known as the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Fee for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Detection Test) Regulations 2020.


In the regulations made on June 26 by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, any Malaysian or foreigner entering Malaysia will be required to pay the specified fee depending on the type of Covid-19 detection tests taken "before proceeding for immigration clearance at any point of entry", with the type of tests used to be decided by the health director-general.

The fee for a Malaysian is RM30 for an antibody rapid test kit, RM60 for an antigen rapid test kit, RM150 for a polymerase chain reaction test kit; while for foreigners, the fees stated in the regulations are RM60 (antibody rapid test kit), RM120 (antigen rapid test kit), RM250 (polymerase chain reaction test kit).

The same regulations also state that any Malaysian or foreigner in Malaysia may request to undergo Covid-19 detection tests at any government hospital ---- including government clinics and medical institutions declared by the government as federal medical institutions ---- or any place determined by the health director-general to be a place to undergo such tests.

The same price schedule stated earlier applies for anyone who requests to carry out such Covid-19 tests.

This new set of regulations however also said that the health minister may make full or partial waivers of the fees for Covid-19 tests in his discretion in any particular case.

Previously on June 10, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said Malaysians returning from abroad will undergo a swab test for Covid-19 as soon as they arrive at the airport, with those testing positive to be sent to hospitals for treatment while those testing negative will undergo a 14-day quarantine at their own homes.

Those placed under self-quarantine would be required to download the MySejahtera application and will be issued a wristband for easy identification and monitoring of movements by the authorities.

Who wants to use nasal swabs.... In msia. The test is so expensive and time consuming.

so far only Real time Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) and RTK test methods require Nasal swab.... Nasopharyngeal (NPS) .

Dont worry. They already got the approval from FDA... to sell their nasal swab. Unfortunately... No order in hand..No one from USA wants to order.... Many countries prefer to use the rapid test kit which is much cheaper.... What to do?

1.Introduction

The Board of Directors of K-One Technology Bhd (“K-One Tech” or “Company”) wishes to announce that the Company is venturing into the manufacturing of Nasal Swabs (“Nasal Swab Business”) which are used to collect fluid specimen from the back of the nasal cavity. The Nasal Swab is then placed into a vial that contains a culture medium before it is transported to a laboratory for testing of Covid-19. Nasal Swabs are typically manufactured using injection molding and flocking, which includes tufts of polyester material attached to the end of a plastic shaft. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused an overdrive in demand which impacted supply. Hence, healthcare professionals are turning to 3D printed Nasal Swabs.



2.Work Scope

Leveraging on the Company’s expertise in Design & Development (“D&D”) and deep manufacturing experience, it had placed order with a reputable US based 3D printing technology developer and manufacturer to supply 3D printer for the purpose of 3D printing the Nasal Swabs. The US based 3D technology developer and manufacturer, working in collaboration with US healthcare providers have received FDA Class 1 Exempt status for their Nasal Swabs design. The former is currently supplying to these healthcare providers.

The Company shall commence pilot manufacturing of the specific Nasal Swab design by 3D printing using the equipment supplied by the US based 3D printing technology developer and manufacturer by May 2020 in its FDA registered; ISO 13485 facility. As Nasal Swab is considered a medical device, it will be subjected to getting the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities of the subject country (while for US, the subject Nasal Swab has already received FDA Class 1 Exempt status) and for Malaysia, it would include amongst others, approval from the Medical Device Authority (MDA) under the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.



3.Financial Effects

The Nasal Swab Business is expected to have a positive impact on the earnings and net asset per share of the Company for the financial year ending 31 December 2020 subject to getting the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities in the countries which it is being sold. The Nasal Swab Business will be funded through internally generated funds.



4.Risk Factors

The risks related to the Nasal Swab Business includes technical expertise, special biocompatible autoclavable resin supply and the associated execution risks. Notwithstanding, the Company has over the years established a successful track record in delivering D&D and electronic manufacturing services which would help to mitigate the risks.



5.Directors’ & Substantial Shareholders’ Interests

None of the Directors and/or major shareholders of the Company and/or persons connected with them have any direct or indirect interest in the Nasal Swab Business.



6.Directors’ Statement

The Board is of the view that the Nasal Swab Business is an extension of its focus in Medical/Healthcare products within its electronic manufacturing services realm, whilst at the same time, it is taking this opportunity to step up its efforts in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by addressing the shortage of Nasal Swabs in the healthcare ecosystem.
