However I see of late your picks are spot on with the latest being GHL. I bought some earlier at 68 sen (just to support a friend in 932 and added a bit at 80 sen when I saw the engine starting today (nothing to do with TA).

# connie - I would say that you entered based on emotion. FA wise, it' s not that great. TA wise I reckon a bit difficult to read because of the volatility. Also at times there is a huge differential between ask and bid prices. So it's more of a tip and hopefully this tip given to walt is reliable (like IQtech). I would say that you are taking a gamble on this counter 50:50.

# connie - pbv at 1.93, I would say is consider on the higher side. FA wise EIG is not that great. As I mentioned, unless there is something brewing, the entry price price of around 1.30 is not cheap.

# connie / mike - the steamboat restaurant is in Sri Petaling, called Harbour, They only served good quality meat and vegetables. For fewer people you can order half portions. Need to make reservations as everyday is full. Otherwise you have to wait outside! However where possible they will try to accommodate me if I were to go.

# connie - then look at the Balance Sheet
1) at the price to book value (lower the better) preferably below 1.
2) at the cash, receivables, types of assets, reserves, retained earnings etc
3) look at the dividend records, whether the dividends are pid out from profits or from borrowings etc
4) more importantly go read kcchongnz's articles on ascertaining free cash flow, intrinsic value and margin of safety

Once you are satisfied with all the numbers, you will feel at peace in investing the counter.

For a trader, TA is applicable, but for an investor FA is more important. Of course when combining TA and FA, it should be a safe investment.

# connie - for FA you have got a lot to learn
1. first take a lot at the P&L statement
2. ensure that the profits are from trading and operation and not from gains from disposal of assets or revaluation of assets etc
3. look at earnings per sahre (higher the better) and PE ratio (lower the better
4. look at the profit trend, quarter on quarter and year on year basis

scjm - for the following reasons

1) he can be said to be the guardian or jaga of the ladies ( I stress on the word j which is one of the letters in his name)
2) being your guru, he's a core member of the family
3) "Sparkling Chee Muis' - in short scm
4) "j" is amongst scm but ooi1955 is not there. The without ;one" refers to ooi (both ooi and one has "o" as the first letter and and the letter "i" is also treated as 1)

So there you go !
