PETALING JAYA: A research report by a local investment bank bearing almost identical results of construction firm Vivocom International Holdings Bhd that was released before the company published its earnings to Bursa Malaysia has raised eyebrows.

Vivocom released its earnings to the stock exchange yesterday while the research report was dated Nov 28.

The research report was pulled out of the investment bank’s website but not before it had been noticed by blogging sites that discuss corporate governance issues in Malaysia.

A blog noted that the earnings were very similar but “not exactly the same” as the numbers disclosed by the investment bank.

It said that the investment bank could have used preliminary numbers in its research report.

Vivocom had posted an 80% rise in net profit to RM12.15mil compared with the previous corresponding quarter on 151% jump in revenue to RM55.91mil.

Some blogs have raised questions whether listing rules and ethical practices have been breached by key information being made public before the actual results were issued by the company.
