annchua, you have to take into consideration of debt ratio, rate of growth, etc. before coming into conclusion though. High growth and high debt ratio without dividend is alright when the company is in the right field at expansion mode. 0 growth with 0 debt/lots of cash without dividend is the worst of all! If I were not wrong, Puncak situation is due to water tariff disagreement between state and contract Puncak signed before PR takes over the state government

annchua, yes, agree totally

seems like EPF still accumulates Puncak shares with good support today
2015-02-11 11:12 | Report Abuse
guess the best weapon to push the water deal is another water crisis and rationing, sigh!
2015-02-11 10:17 | Report Abuse
I don't think they need splash to close the deal. it would seems to me company owning the water network is the most crucial, the rest comes down to pricing and 'connection?'

hng33, it will be new business to Puncak, there is no certainty that it would be able to excel in it. Not to mention that Puncak board is thinking about plantation, which is currently has a huge price tack on the land itself. If Puncak is able to land a few more water/waste treatment plants businesses around the world, it may not have the home field advantage it is currently enjoying. I guess given doubts, Puncak share price will most likely traded below its NTA for some time until it has proven itself it can excel in other fields or when its not enjoying the home field advantage. For these, I kind of prefer Puncak selling off everything and distributing the money

hng33, hehe... I still prefer Puncak selling off everything, water business in China to BJCorp for example and distribute all cash to all shareholders equally. Its the fastest way to small holders like us to collect the most

with EPF increases its holding in Puncak, lets hope the market has less shares to be sold at this absurd cheap level
2015-02-10 18:27 | Report Abuse
fainted! luckily EPF has been buying
2015-02-10 11:29 | Report Abuse
good news is anticipated? its now 2.72
2015-02-10 10:05 | Report Abuse
hng33, hehe... given its share price performance, I would really prefer Puncak failing to ink any deal in the future and is forced to return all money to shareholders, at least I will be getting more than 4.50 per share than current miserable price

has anyone thought of no announcement as an outcome before?

guess its not that bad either, price has stabled around 2.6x, nobody has any clue what to come? My best guess. So, everyone just keep talking and frankly will result with anything, haha... Only way to know is when Puncak or government come out to speak

if its good news, share price should have risen already lah

Funny thing is puncak warrant @ 1.68 got buyer while puncak @ 2.61 got seller

hng33, thanks, though with the disposal deal hanging, I sincerely doubt Selangor state is willing to endorse the terms as stipulated in the deal. I have always thought, or wished, that the deal will proceed accordingly, and doubted any attempt to sabotage. Its too pricey to have the deal cut as all issues will complicate matters more than before any MOU is signed. My anger of late has more to do with (1) lack of clarity from Puncak, from announcement to assuage investors to share buy back to offer support and (2) material non-public rumors that flies around after price drop without any action from security commission. Guess our Vision 2020 is nothing but BOLEH land dream.
2015-02-04 12:49 | Report Abuse
Another issue that bother me, sources at both edge n cimb offer material non public information that should not be published except by puncak or government. But guess its not uncommon in Malaysia boleh land
2015-02-04 12:41 | Report Abuse
Hng33, if sale didn't go through, it will be bad for puncak, given that state disagree with tariff increase. Climb give mixed idea, while suggesting deal close before Feb 15, it mentioned a dividend 2h 2015
2015-02-04 10:42 | Report Abuse
at least epf is buying, a bit of consolation? hope epf will keep on buying til its holding reach 10%

The more i think about the report in edge, the more confuse i am. Out of curiosity, shouldn't those issues raised in the edge been addressed prior to initiating takeover of private water companies?
2015-02-02 10:52 | Report Abuse
its hard to imagine that possibility, jolie. I can't dispute the edge's suggestion though, given its no longer Puncak's fight, more like a fight between state and federal, which is crucial in influencing deals between state and federal in the future. More so when BN no longer have full control of states affair.
While having concern on how long the deal will be dragged further, still believe that it will be completed soon to avoid further delay in Langat 2 from federal's perspective or huge legal cost from water tariff not being raised from state's perspective
2015-02-02 08:01 | Report Abuse
jolie, you wrote some comment not worthy of consideration (which is misleading) to 'warn' people in expectation others would dig further (not to mention they would be able to dig or not). Then not happy with others' reply on your comment?!? How about not commenting at all and won't feel unhappy at all? Real strange
caocao, guess either a Puncak/state government/federal government clarification, I will have no choice but to keep waiting. The cash of at least 3.55 (which I hope is at least 3.70) per share is too tempting to me
2015-02-01 19:43 | Report Abuse
Jolie, your earlier comment is so much off compared to what's suggested in the edge

The pity part is that I have no idea about the issue n keep accumulating, sigh!

hope someone would write to Puncak seeking clarification
2015-01-31 10:04 | Report Abuse

2015-01-30 18:39 | Report Abuse
guess most money accumulated through the sale of BJAuto has been spent to buy BJLand and BJToto?
2015-01-30 18:37 | Report Abuse
guess EPF adding position is the only consolation?

alas, babu, what else can you expect from hng33? He has offered his best knowledge about Puncak already, at least that's how I feel reading his writeup
2015-01-30 16:30 | Report Abuse
fainted, just add some Puncak @ 2.64, wonder when will I be able to resist temptation to buy Puncak? Too concentrated in Puncak already, sigh!

real big joke, Azmin said that Selangor's budget has forecasted major events around the world and sees no need of change in the news... Wonder what were assumed in his budget plan?!?

SinGor, despite my holding in Puncak, I still like Pak Lah's strategic release of Anwar... Had it not for Pak Lah and Anwar's moves, we won't have much chance to speak so freely now... No doubt, PR has everything to do with Puncak's delay last year when trying to sack Khalid, but not sure if PR has anything to do with the delay now. Anyway, I have doubt Anwar's case can or will have any impact on the water asset disposal.
Glad to see EPF adding position in Puncak to above 5% now, hope to see more actions from EPF
2015-01-27 17:27 | Report Abuse
SinGor, not intended to bomb you, but a water deal to save Anwar? LOL... To Najib or Pak Lah, a prime minister with a strong ex Dr. M, Anwar is both a threat and a mass destruction weapon. A weapon to contain M's influence and a threat to toppling BN. If there is any prime minister to even care to take Anwar's release into water deal, he would be either insane or damn stupid! Azmin would have been naïve to even consider... or another possibility, Extremely desperate

I am upset that Puncak management has not taken the opportunity to buy back shares, something that would, not only to offer shareholders confidence, allow its store of cash in hand through treasury shares
2015-01-26 11:58 | Report Abuse
hmm... losing faith or is Puncak going to delay the sale again?
2015-01-23 15:42 | Report Abuse
why sell when feb 09 is so close, unless you have no faith in Puncak getting the deal done before then?

I m happy with 3.80 - 4.20, but could use a 3.40 now

hng33, good to read your analysis...
2015-01-19 18:28 | Report Abuse
If the water asset disposal is firm, the deal should bode well for Puncak, given that its cash per share will be at least 3.55 per share, not to mention that it has still other businesses that are not sold. Despite its potential PN17 status, why bother? So long that commodity prices are low, it should be even better for Puncak, i.e., the opportunity to grab commodity assets at low price. Unless the water asset disposal is called off, I have difficulty understanding why Puncak price is not even 3.50 yet.
2015-01-19 17:55 | Report Abuse
Guess only the announcement of Puncak completing the Selangor water asset disposal will reverse the trend
